Hi! I''m new here, but I was skimming through some previous posts, and I just want to say you all are awesome! Please use your magic guru knowledge to help me out, too!

Here is the situation: I am buying a diamond solitaire ring. My budget for the diamond is $1300. I found this diamond from an online retailer for $1250. Please tell me if it sounds like a nice diamond for my price range or if you think I can do better.

Here are the specs: GIA cert, FSI2, AGS Ideal cut, Polish/symm/proportions are all ideal, measurements 5.15-5.19x3.20mm, depth 61.9%, table 56%, 34.6 degrees is the crown angle, and 41.0 degrees is the pavillion angle. The diamond scored 1.9 on the Holloway Cut adviser. As far as the clarity goes: The inclusions in the stone are the feather kind, and they are hugging the side of the stone in the lower half of the diamond. They can be clearly seen when the diamond is viewed from the side, but not when the diamond is viewed from the top.

Thanks for your help!!!

I did not see the weight of the stone, but it estimates at .52cts with the information you have given us. That puts the price of the stone at almost 8% back of the rap sheet which for such a well cut stone is a very fair price.

Since you described the visibility of the inclusion it sounds as if you have already seen the stone, is it as vibrant and alive as its numbers say it should be?

Do the feathers lie parallel to the facets cut or across the grain?? If they are parallel, they will be much less visible in the face up position than if they cut across the grain. Also, you want to be sure the feathers do not break the surface of the diamond. Any inclusion that breaks the surface of a diamond can be a problem. Maybe ask the Vendor for magnified pics of the diamond, face up and pavillion view, and the inclusions to help in your decision.
