Gold question

I had my ering reshanked in March. It’s 14kt yg. I have never had a problem except it got thin after many years. I rarely wear my ring, esp now. I wore it for 24 hrs about a week after it came back. i was in quarantine and didn’t do anything in particular but when I took it off the new shank was quite off round and kind of wavy. Could there be a problem with the gold used to reshank being soft for some reason?

What karat is the new shank? 14K is tougher than 18, 10 and 9K.

Golds get harder if 'worked'' The jeweller might just need to tap it all around with a hammer and repolish it.
