Now that gold prices are falling, has anyone noticed if there has been a dip in the price of settings?

None; just like petrol, the price hike is immediate but the price decline takes a while. Stock settings will remain at old prices and there might be a slight dip in custom setting costs if the jeweller needs to order the metal. Labour for custom is unlikely to move and will stay high.

No, its pretty much referred to as the ratchet effect as prices go up but do not really come down... :(sad

Agreed :(. And I've been watching certain sites fairly closely, too. It's annoying seeing some places even charging higher prices for settings - I'm definitely not naming any names, but I watch a lot of etsy seller's stores pretty regularly, and I've seen increases at a couple of them. It's certainly their right to charge what they want; I'm not happy about it though :(. I guess what irks me is that a lot of etsy jewelers cast their rings on demand, so they're not sitting on older, more expensive stock - they could definitely be offering today's cheaper prices, isn't that correct? Or am I missing something?

I just want to see cheaper settings, dangit!!

Nope :( I've been keeping an eye out for settings myself and it seems like prices aren't coming down very much (if at all).

Hmm...I am sticking with platinum then.

I was wondering about this myself a few days ago, but as I checked some sites, it was depressing to see no drop in setting prices.

Yup, that's why I stuck with platinum instead of 18K YG too.
