Going in for new knee Friday morning!

OK, no skateboarding or skiing for a while for you!
Best of luck with recovery.

Dust Dust Dust coming your way, Aprilbaby. Wishing you a speedy recovery. :wavey:

Well, day after! Surgery went well, had a spinal, a femoral block and twilight sedation. No pain at all the first 16 hrs. Unfortunately they got me up at 4:30 am to do vitals and go to the bathroom and I passed out on the toilet and fell splat on the floor! Hurt my right ankle and calf muscle ( of course the operated knee) and couldn't get up. I was "out" till they got me back to the bed where my bp was 60/40. Rest of today was better, they keep me on hydro condone every four hrs and continuos passive leg machine two hrs at a time. I am able to walk a good hallway with a walker, and climb a few steps. Altogether quite a good experience. Fabulous hospital staff! Will be here till Monday. No complaints yet!!! Thanks so much for all the well wishes and dust!!!!

Glad the surgury went well...sorry to hear about the face plant.

Hopefully you'll be home soon and up toddling around. Speaking of getting older...
I've got a hip that's been bothering me  . Someone please tell me I'm too young for
these kind of problems!

Glad you are out of surgery and recovering April! Sorry about that nasty spill though- relieved you are OK! Sending you continued healing dust and keeping you in my thoughts!!

Glad to hear from you April Baby!!! Just go at your own pace- don't rush anything and keep taking the meds! Always call an attendant to get to the bathroom if you are feeling at all woozy...

That sounds like quite the physical schedule they have you on.. and out by Monday??? WOW! Can't you opt for, like say, a week in the hospital just to recover??? (ya, I know , health care dollars and all - but it just seems so *QUICK* to send people home!)

WOW--I can't believe how much you are up and about already!

Passing out in the toilet... wow in a different way... I'm so glad you're OK!

Home so soon??? I assume you've signed up for a ski trip or salsa lessons starting next week, right?!

Glad to hear your surgery went well.. :appl:

Bad night of pain and swelling but under control this morning!yay! Dopey as a rock tho. They get you right up. The cpm machine had me at 55 degrees this morning and I am expected to walk the floor in about 15 min. Overall not a terrible experience. Will be home tomorrow with PT and nurse coming to the house. My 6'6 wonderful son has taken the week off to care for me. I am loved and blessed!!!

You are indeed!! What a wonderful son you have, Aprilbaby!! BIG BIG PS hug from Enerchi to that most wonderful son of yours!!! And a huge hug for you too - keep staying as dopey as that rock!! lol!!

{{{HUGS}}}

Oh Aprilbaby, I am soooo glad everything went well!!! And even more glad they got you all doped up and that your son took the week off to take care of you! Awesome son! Just awesome! You're doing great! I can't believe how fast you are bouncing back! I would be all whiny and blah! You're a trooper!

Going home in the morning! One really bad night and the rest was tolerable. I use the cpm machine 3x/day and I am up to 60 degrees already. I choose not to go to rehab, they will come to my house. So overall, wasn't anywhere near as bad as expected. Pain was well managed. Hospital staff was amazing! (Go Edward! Naperville, IL). If you are fairly young (53) you can do this!!! But most of all, all the prayers and dust and love of friends and family got me thru!!!! Thank you all!!!

Yay! Home! So glad you get to go home!

:appl: So glad everything went well! More dust for a quick and thorough rehabilitation!

Glad it worked out well! Stay active as much as possible!

Glad everything is going well, except for that face plant episode! What a great son you have. Its nice that you can rehab at home. So much better than a facility. Hope it keeps getting better every day.
Stay on top of the pain :naughty: I'm looking at surgery too eventually on my RT Knee, but Im putting it off as long as possible.

It was really much easier than expected. I am heading home on no pain meds:). Don't put it off as long as possible, just do it and enjoy your new freedom!

So happy to hear you are doing so well! You sound so cheerful and happy. :)) Many best wishes!

I am blown away by you, AB! Talk about stoicism, maturity, good natured humor, gratefulness (I know there is a better word for this, but can't think of it), and optimism. You have just made one fan out of me! [can't say that I'd want a knee replacement, though]. Congrats for being the ultimate trooper and making it through so well :appl: :appl:
