Hello all-

I''ve been going back and forth for the last couple of days/week over whether or not to pull the trigger on this specific stone and wanted to get your feedback.

A little background - my girlfriend and I love the GOG Signature Chunky Cushion and decided we wanted to go with one of these stones. Beyond that, we are looking for something in the 1.5-2ct range (closer to 1.75 if possible), D-G color and IF-VS2 clarity (open to eye clean SI1). I wanted to stay in the 10-15k range for the stone. I also want to have a finished piece (with a custom setting) by mid November.

Below is information and links to the GOG stone which I have reserved for the time being. It is a great stone and don''t doubt it will be a great match for us. I just want to be sure for such a large and important purchase. My only hang up is in the clarity. It is, however, perfectly eye-clean (Jonathan has assured me). I think I just need to get over this mentally.

It looks like a gorgeous cushion! If Jonathan has approved it for eye-cleanliness, I wouldn''t hesitate to rock that rock. It''s a beauty.

I have a GOG chunky cushion that is an SI2.My husband was not comfortable with the SI2 but Jonathan says it is eye clean so I took the risk and I have to tell you that the stone is beautiful. Not only is it eye clean but I have to hunt for the feather even with a loupe. Makes me wonder the clarity of the diamonds in the store that you can spot the inclusions a mile away...... but that is another post.Oppps also wanted to add that I had another cushion that was an SI1 with a cloud closer to the center that was also eye clean and hard to see with a loupe. So if Jonathan says eye clean I would trust him.... or as he said to me, you can have his daughter whose 21yr old eyeball it for you( in fact they have been known to poll the whole staff about the eye clean of a stone)..... yep been there, done that too

I was considering that diamond since it was priced well for what it is! It looks beautiful.

Thanks everybody! Any other comments are appreciated.

Here is another video that just showcases this stone one other stone, a modern cushion - Video 2

You are a FOOL to pass that up. A FOOL. Buy it.

I was able to load that second video and see the spot-light demo and HO-LY HOT TAMALE! That baby''s lighting up like a Christmas tree. I hope you give it a chance, it looks spectacular.

oh you have no idea - I have NEVER been jealous before. The damn thing even is strong blue! I am so jealous.

I hate you perfect diamond buyer!!!!!! lol

Glad you like all. It''s funny because when someone sees it for the first time there is little realization of their rarity in the world of vintage cut cushions and its sometimes hard to communicate that without sounding like a pitch. I''m sorry I didn''t respond in the other thread Cehra but everything you''ve been describing is exactly what I have been working on and have now perfected over the course of the past year and the time you were away. You recall how frustrating it is to find such. I have done the crunching, perfected the maltese cross as you can see while working with a master cutter on this project. If you''re ever out here in Long Island you are most welcome to stop by and see these for yourself. Our first 3ct signature August Vintage''s arrived today too. Very fun to look at if you are.

Kindest regards,

I hate you jon lol I dont'' want to see them I want to WEAR them!!!!! I cannot express enough what''s going through my head and like I said, being on the cutting edge before there''s a defined edge has its disadvantages... and buyer I hope you know how much some of us pushed for this to happen!!!!! lol

(I know I sound bitter - and I am! hehe nah - just buy that thing and enjoy it... I don''t know if you can truly appreciate what you have but I have been fighting for years (along with others) to make your reality possible)

LOL ... yes Cehra. Imagine my frustration calling in cushion after cushion over the years and thinking ... if only I can change this facet set. etc. ad naueseum. You of all people I''ve spoken to about this very thing understand. Drop me an email my friend. I''m happy to talk and catch up with ya.

Kind regards,

Actually I dropped you a line before I posted in this thread - not sure if you still use that email (EL). Seeing that stone has actually put me in a weird place. On the one hand I''m overjoyed to finally see that what I knew could happen is happening and on the other I''m having a major pity party that I don''t get to enjoy it myself. boo hoo. I know, right? What a big fat baby!

LOL... well ... nothing is impossible dear. I do use that email still so when I get in tomorrow and catchup I''ll most certainly look out for it.

Warm regards,

Warm regards,

Yes well I can assure you that purchasing another expensive diamond isn''t going to happen in the next decade. Maybe when the kids are all out of college. My husband is all practical and thinking of things like that and retirement. What a bore! lol

I shall console myself with the fact I do prefer them elongated - any luck getting the numbers to work for those?

Am I hijacking this thread? I should just go sit in the corner and pet my rock and let this person buy that stone lol

BTW if you were seeking approval you have mine obviously lol

Kindest regards,
3ct signature August Vintage''s!?!?!? When do we get to see these beauties, Rhino!?!?!

I''ll have to join Cehra and envy you on this one! I do love my H&A stone, but these are just magnificent!

This beauty is definitely a strong contender and you all have only helped solidify that. These stones that Jonathan cuts really are amazing and I''m coming to appreciate them more each day I research cushions and look at options. I''m still going to sit on it for a week or so while I try to work out a designer for the setting but more than likely, I will be purchasing this.

Thanks again everybody and keep the comments coming!

Oh I

that one. I love the fact that it is almost a square shape as well. I am usually sensitive about inclusions and have a mind clean issue with stones below VS2, but if if that stone is eye clean, I would quickly get over it. Everything else is perfect.

Thanks Cehra,

We'll chat more in email.

just go for it, that thing is amazing!

The videos were excellent!

Buy it already. I have one of Jonathan''s cushion and I am telling you that if you want a chunky cushion you will not find a better one. Buy it and if you don''t like it (I don''t think that''s gonna happen), send it back. You''ve seen the video and the specs and all the images that you could ever want, you have PS members drooling over the stone, if you are still unsure, the next step would be to see the stone in person. There is nothing else to be said but to have the diamond in hand and eyeball it in person

Have you seen photos of GOG signature cushions on pricescope? Do a search and you will pull lots of photos and comments.

I hope you get it and post lots of photos.

You seriously haven''t bought this stone yet?

Ditto. That cushion is outstanding. If you have any lingering doubts about anything, buy it unset - check it out around your house in various types of lighting to make sure it''s your stone and then have it set.

You guys are awesome (and funny)! I just purchased the diamond and am having it sent to my office to check out in person :) I still haven't decided on a ring designer but am getting quotes from Leon, Brian, Maytal, and Whiteflash in the coming days. If you have a preference for any of them, let me know. Always good to get extra feedback. I'm getting really excited for the finished product!

Thanks again for everyone's help!

bout freaking time!! I''m really not normally like that but that stone is gorgeous and the fluor is to die for. I cannot wait to see it on :)
