Hi everyone,
I''ve gone ahead and plunked down for a GOG OMC. The stone is a 1.48 K VS1. I really like the shape of this stone even among the various great GOG OMC''s, but we''ll see if its a keeper once I see the K color in person. A link to the stone and the video are below:

Assuming I end up with this stone, or a similar stone thats instead something a little lighter (John tells me I won''t be disappointed!), now I must go on a setting search.
I have no real timeline, since I''ve probably got 6 months to get it all done, so no concerns there at least.
My GF''s latest decision (it changes...) is for a specific style she saw on another girl at her law school. It is a Mark Silverstein ring from their Gossimer collection, and her main attraction to the collection is the rings with multiple winding shanks. She thinks they are beautiful, doesn''t mind knowing there might be more upkeep over the life of it than other designs, and she thinks the open designs give her good coverage without being too blingy, and most importantly she thinks the space you can see through gives her hand a good appearance. She thinks solid wide rings, or stacked rings, give her hand a squat appearance.
You can see some of the designs here:

The specific one she was looking at isn''t there, but can be seen at his site. Its the #2084 ring (bridal section, group 12, ring on the left):

If anyone can insert a picture, go ahead. I personally liked

Does anyone know of designers making rings similar to this style?
Does anyone have experience with this designer? John at GOG said he had approached him before, but the designer seemed disinterested with working with a retailer that sells online, so that might complicate matters.
Another issue of course is how would you get the square peg into the round hole, and by that I mean getting a OMC into a design made for a round... would it probably require removing both the head and the halo under it? Is it a bad idea to try and cram new shapes into set pieces? Would someone like Leon Mege be capable of recreating this, and would that be cost prohibitive on a custom (this ring design already likely to be ~3k)?
Does anyone have any advice, any similar ring designs they know of, or have any general concepts of if I''m trying to put the wrong things together?
I know the OMC is supposed to be an antique, and I doubt these settings would ever qualify as being the normal home of an antique, but really my GF knows nothing of antiques, we never encounter any actual antiques (or many round stones really), and really I''m just aiming for a ring she loves that also is very unique.
Any comments, advice, recommendations, and warnings are appreciated! Thanks, and I''ll be sure to keep everyone up to date on my decisions, and maybe even use my fancy new 12mp canon to take a shot or too of the stone loose, once I get to see it in person.
Again, thanks in advance for your responses!
