I considered this Vatche setting long ago when I was thinking about setting my Jubilee. Musey has this setting too and I think it''s a very pretty modern intepretation of an antique setting. What I need help with is to photoshop in GOG''s signature OMC in place of the radiant to see the effect of the overall ring. Pretty please?

Musey,
Thanks a bunch. Do you think the look "fits" or does the stone look out of place?

Great photoshopping.

If you want my .02, I think the setting looks too new and doesnt suit the stone.

You're very welcome

lol

Well I'm so used to seeing my asscher in there that most stones look out of place to me (I've seen an oval and a round in there, I think)... but I actually really like the look of the OMC in there. It seems to 'fit' well.

One thing is that it actually comes across more modern looking in real life, in my opinion, than it does in pictures. I wonder if slightly different prong tips might suit an antique cut? That's being SUPER nitpicky, though!!

What do YOU think?

It''s the same setting as my Vatche with the antique cushion without the halo.

I think it looks antique-y

I think it looks good. I don''t think it''ll be big enough in real life to notice that the setting is a more modern one.

If you are looking for opinions...I like it. I think it looks antiquey enough to pull off your beautiful cushion. Its a
beautiful setting and I like that is leaves the spotlight on the stone.

hmm, I don''t know if I like it for the pillowy cushion. that could just be b/c I''m so used to seeing Musey''s asscher in that setting though.

I think it''s really pretty with the cushion.

I just re-read my post and realised how horrible that sounded. What I mean is, in person the setting and every little detail won''t be blown up and in macro the way it is on the computer. I think it''ll look good. I didn''t mean to imply that either the stone or the setting were small. I really like both musey''s ring and PP''s ring, which are very similar and work for both types of stone.

I must remember to read what I write before hitting submit.

Addy, for what it''s worth, I knew exactly what you meant!

Me too-sie

In real life the Vatche is much more delicate than it looks in photos. The shank is quite small, maybe 1.8? Narrow anyway, that''s for sure. The little side wraps are barely there though they look pretty substantial in the photographs.

Thank you PP and Musey. It''s good to know the shank and knobs are really small. It''s difficult to visualize the ring in life size.

Addy, I knew what you were trying to type.

Steel, Ty, Mrs.S, and GG,
Thank you for your input.

Two more cents for you, Chrono!

I like it too - esp set East-West like that.

Musey,
Thanks for the additional pictures. What''s the mm measurement of your stone? It looks pretty substantial in relation to the setting.

Sharon,
That ring is a steal. Too bad my stone is too small.
