Hi,

I need some explanation on ASET. One Aset shows less blue than the other. Which is the more normal one? Thanks

Next pic. And which Aset will give a more sparkly OEC?

Can you enlarge the images please Ashleigh and also post any others you might have such as the photographs and DiamXray? Its hard to see them properly so if you could that would help, also this link is an excellent tutorial for ASET.

2nd ASET looks tilted but can you post a larger image?

Hi Lorelei,

Thanks for the link.

I sort of understand the red, green and blue areas on ASET. But as the OEC is new to me, I wonder what is a normal ASET of OEC like. For instance, in H&A rounds, the blue is usually only at the arrows. In fact, I put one OEC on hold then realise that its ASET is a bit different from that of another OEC. I searched all the OECs on the site and look at the ASET one by one and I still don''t have a conclusion which is the more usual case.

I don''t know how to make the pics bigger while retaining the clarity. So I''ll link both ASETs.

How''s the one I''ve on hold?

All advice are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi Stonecold,

Thanks for the response.

Tilted means what?

1. The diamond was placed tilted in the ASET machine.

2. Some facets of the diamond are not symmetrical/tilted.

the stone is place tilted on the ASET when the image is taken. You can ask GOG to retake the ASET image again to confirm.

Thanks Ashleigh. I would ask Jon, not sure the image is tilted perhaps looking at all of them, in the photo there are some darker areas showing on the diamond, so to avoid speculating it would be best to ask him especially as we haven't seen too many of these, but I am sure the verdict will be positive and it will be a super stone, I would love one of these myself.

I''ll be happy to clarify.

The ASET''s of an August Vintage OEC will generally always have a mix of red/blue under the table. Some a little more than others. This is done on purpose because I want the reflections under the table to NOT reflect back head and body shadow but rather to grab light from around the observer. My first prototype had distinct blue on the mains and as we were progressing in our prototypes recorded and documented these differences in appearance as we altered the optical design.
