Good Old Gold posted a great comparison video of 4 approximately 2ct RBs, ranging in cut grade from GIA Good to VG and 3X, and also a GIA 3x GOG Signature Ideal. Jon shows the ASET image for each and runs the 4 diamonds through his complete range of various lighting, with explanations. Really hows the superideal cut vs. the more common ones with leakage and /or more chaotic symmetry that are cut to retain weight at or above 2ct.

Oh boy, I sure enjoyed that youtube video!! Very educational and very dramatic - the difference in the cuts and how they all perform in the different lighting situations. I always enjoy Jon's GOG videos - there is so much to learn from them.

I thought it was great because of the side-by-side comparisons. The answer to "How good is good enough?" is subjective, but this video gives the buyers a good demonstration of the differences in performance from good to stellar.

Thanks for the kind words. As I was preparing this video for the client I wanted to round up a nice array of subjects varying in cut quality and optics. Interestingly the GIA "Good" was pretty equal to the GIA "Very Good" insofar as the optics were concerned and a good demonstration of what "digging" can do to a diamond as well. When I'm searching amongst GIA XXX's the 3rd example is a great case of what's typical on the market. Glad ya'll enjoyed.
