For insurance purposes, would you guys take GOG''s appraisal or would you still go to an independent appraiser?

Thanks,

Ask your insurance company. Many would accept the bill of sale from the vendor as being sufficient. You may or may not want the inflated appraisal given to you by a vendor or an independant appraisal which will often be more than you paid for the piece. That is your choice but no matter who does your appraisal make sure you are clear if you want it to reflect a discounted internet price, or the cost at full retail at a B&M store as these are often quite different.

personally, I''d just use the Goodoldgold appraisal but as chunkycushionlover said, i would want to make sure it''s not overinflated and the replacement value is close to what I paid. Some folks prefer to have an independent appraisal done on their purchases though. it''s really up to you.

Thanks for the replies. I think I''ll just go with GOG''s appraisal, as I plan to ship them my setting to have the stone mounted. I need an appraisal primarily for insurance purposes, rather than ensuring I didn''t get ripped off (I trust GOG somewhat on this one).

Unless somebody feels the urge to convince me to have the stone independently evaluated prior to having it set.

Thanks,
b
