I ain't laughing, DF -- I don't have everything you don't have except the ATM card. They keep sending me an ATM/debit card & I keep sending it back. I also don't have caller ID or call waiting. No MP3 player or whatever its equal is.

I don't have a debit card. They are not as safe as credit cards. I don't trust them, someone can drain your bank account and its hard to get the money back. I use credit cards and pay in full every month.

And I don't use face book either. I have no interest.

Fair enough - obviously you get your money at the bank. I just can't imagine going into a bank to get cash. Then again, I don't really use cash.

You are not unusual in our age group.

I do not use the internet function of my cell phone.
I do not use a debit card. I use checks or credit cards and pay the bill each month.
I don't ever use an ATM at any machine not associated with my own bank.
I would never use my credit cards for ATM cash unless it was an absolute emergency.
I don't have an iPad, Nook, Kindle, iPod, or any other tech toy aside from my cell phone and laptop.

I'm old enough to actually enjoy not being 'plugged in' all the time.

Hmm, my parents don't 'get' video games or the fact that you can use the control pad to move the onscreen avatar around etc, which any 8 year old could do instinctively. The 8 year old wouldn't necessarily be good at it, but I imagine they would have a go and enjoy the process.

They don't have FB either, and any wifi is set up by myself or my sibling. Ditto iphone etc. It isn't good to get hung up on tech too much (though no one is judging if you are either, unless you're in debt and want to get 20k from your children), but I find it incredibly important to stay in touch with the world of right now. There is more context, and you are in sync with the world at large. Why anyone would deliberately stay away from modern conveniences is odd to say the least.

But then again, Keanu doesn't even carry around a cell phone and he's the star of matrix.
