He took me to a pizza store, then bowling, and then to Haagen Daaz for ice cream. We had so much fun - I was 16, he was 17, and I just thought it was cool he had a car.

No. On our first actual DATE, not considering the times we''d gone out as friends, we ate quick at Sbarro''s in the mall b/c we were going to see some fights, and that''s all the time we had.

Yes.

And then never again.

I took her to the truck stop

it was very expensive for us at the time (and kind of still is:-) Maggiano''s in Boston.

Not my hubby yet, but my FF and I''s first dinner was at Chipotle, and we each paid separately... haha far from romantic. It wasn''t really a full out date, we were just getting to know each other better (we had known each other through mutual friends for about 2 years) and we were meeting up with all said friends after dinner at a party.

Yes. Well, at least it was the nicest one there was where we lived at the time.

Neither cheap nor expensive - I had a chocolate fondue craving, he indulged me. I was so nervous I kept burning myself on the hot pots

Apparently he thought that was "cute and promising".

Considering he was only 19 yrs old, yeah, it was expensive. (It was the first time I had salmon, and the last)

No, we went to a Hockey game and then played pool. I tricked him with my choice of activities, we have never done either again since then

It was fancy for us, he picked me up in a tux and I wore a cute dress and we went to Granite City

Fi has spoiled me with fancy dinners from the start. Unfortunately we''ve had to cut down to save for the upcoming wedding

but on the upside, now when we do go out for a nice dinner it''s more special

Nope. I can''t remember, but I *may* have even paid.

We met for coffee one day and the following night I went to his place to watch a movie that I had gotten on the way over (terrible movie, by the way). I also picked up Chinese take out, and like I said, I may have paid for it. Who knows.

Yes, we went to a tiny Italian restaurant in Newport RI and had a lovely dinner. And then I got food poisoning!
Oh no, that''s horrible!

Nope. We had cheap Mexican and I loved it.

Yes, he thought he was impressing a rich girl! LOL

Nope. We went to a comedy club and then to a pub after. Got tater tots It was a great first date.

No, but he would have if that''s what I wanted. For the first three months we were dating, I wanted to keep it casual (I was still dating other people) so we only ever really met for drinks and dancing. Finally, after 3 months of dating, he asked me out for my birthday and bought me a beautiful watch, and asked if we could date exclusively. He said, ''You''ve never even let me take you out to dinner!'' So, on our next date we went to my favorite sushi restaurant. It wasn''t that fancy, but it was my pick (I love sushi, and can''t stand anything heavy in August).

That was 6 years ago, though, and since then, we have been to almost all of the best restaurants in the Washington, DC area - Citronelle, Restaurant Eve, 2941, L''Auberge Chez Francois, etc. We both love great food, so he likes to surprise me with super-fancy places for our ''special occassions.''

He just had to spill the beans that he''ll be taking me to The Inn at Little Washington for Valentine''s Day, because he wanted to give me a choice between there & somewhere else, and he also needed me to choose the time/date since we don''t want to go on a Sunday. I am so excited!!!

Oooooo...vesper, I''m jealous!!! That will be delicious!!! Corduroy is still one of my faves in DC.

No, we didn''t go out for a fancy dinner. I asked him out, and had suggested we walk to Chipotle for a bite to eat after a long day of work. He had recently been there, so we went to the Chinese Restaurant in the strip mall instead. He paid.
VC, thanks for the recommendation on Corduroy - I keep hearing great things about it, so we''ll need to try it this spring for our anniversary!

Nope, we were young. . .he was 18 and I was 17. If I remember correctly, we went to a party for our first date! I don''t recall where we went for our first dinner out.

You will love The Inn at Little Washington. When you are there, you should read though the guest book on the coffee table. It is quite a who''s who and fascinating to see that people come from all over the world for the experience.
Great idea, Bizou! I will definitely check it out! Two of my girlfriends have been there (one for a birthday, one when her husband proposed) and they have really raved about it. I have always wanted to go there, so I''m so excited!

I can''t even really remember our official first date and it wasn''t long ago. I think it was a mid-priced restaurant although our second date was a blow out meal!

Our''s was the same! I wasn''t even old enough to have a margarita!

I would estimate that our first dinner date cost my fiance around $250...give or take a few $.

He had to fly in from Toronto to Vancouver for our 1st date (approx 3300 KM), so the true cost of dinner went up exponentially

Well, I sort of took him. We went to an all-you-can-eat sushi place with my roommate and her boyfriend that we''d planned to take him to when he came up to Canada to finally meet me.

It''d been almost 24hrs since we''d first laid eyes on one another in person, and we were both so overwhelmingly head over heels that we hadn''t been able to eat anything since he got there and our stomachs had shrunk so much that eating was impossible. We mostly just made googly eyes at one another with shellshocked expressions and picked at our sushi. Totally not our style.

We just celebrated our 5th anniversary this New Year''s

Mid priced for me, expensive for him. The price was not the only thing I misjudged that night...

We were near my house, so I suggested a restaurant I like. You know the type of place where you know all the waiters and you order without even looking at the menu. Yup, that sort. Since I hadn''t looked at the menu for so long, I had forgotten that aphrodisiac food was one of their specialties. That was sooo not the impression I wanted.

He says, to this day, that my face went so red there was no way he could think I had done it on purpose

Our first "date" was dinner at Children''s Hospital, New Orleans in the cafeteria. He''s really classy, my guy.

Nope. Not cheap, but not expensive. Just a fun, relaxed place with good food... the type of place we stilll like to go to 11 years later.

Went to a Mets game and had a hot dog and drinks. If you ever eaten at a sports stadium, it definitely isn''t cheap!

pfffft dozen shots of tequilla and doin'' it on the sidewalk of his parent''s house while his sister waited for us at the front door... fancy dinner... hahahaha!

First date was a show with a drink at our favorite Belgian bar afterward. First dinner date was at a restaurant serving cuisine from his native country, which I''d never had before -- I''m sure it was fairly expensive because he ordered practically everything on the menu so I could taste it all, but the restaurant itself is average-priced for our area. He did take me to one of the best restaurants in our city for our first dating anniversary, but we don''t tend to eat at really fancy restaurants otherwise.
