I am interested in the following ring:

ROUND BRILLIANT
7.95 - 7.99 * 4.96 mm
2.01 carat
depth 62.2%
table 55%
girdle MEDIUM TO VERY THICK
culet SMALL
polish VERY GOOD
symmetry GOOD
Fluor NONE
H - VS2
Certificate: GIA
Comments: NONE

By comparing the diameter to the carat weight, I am assuming the cutter was squeezing that extra few carat points out of the girdle to get over 2 cts (most 2.01 cts that I see on this website and others are 8+ mm diameter).

So, would the following be true: A medium to very thick girdle merely adds a few points to the carat weight, but doesn't affect the stone's beauty or ideal proportions. It's just a little addt'l dead weight, doesn't hurt doesn't help.

Do I need to be worried about this girdle?

Thank you thread.

Hi,

This diamond is a bit on the 'heavy' side, although, slightly heavy diamonds are preferred than too shallow ones, you will end up with a 2ct price diamond that looks like a 1.8cts.
I had sent you more information via an e-mail.

Good-luck.

Isaac.
