Girdle thickness variance greater than 1.7% on AGS0 cut

Hi all,

I am looking at making my first purchase online and i have a question regarding girdle thickness variance on a sarin report that exceeds the recommended 1.7% difference (hills, valleys).
Apart from paying for unseen weight will a girdle with a min max 1.4-4.2 (2.8% difference) have any negative impact on the diamond?
Although the dimensions are not extreme should i stay away?
Will that variance cause difficulty when setting?

I've never heard of such a standard/recommendation.

No, the difference is much too small to cause a difficulty in cutting a seat during the setting process.

I am looking at having the diamond shipped to Australia so the more confident i can be the better

AGSL and GIA treat girdle measurements differently. GIA measures at the 16 thinnest positions. AGSL measures thinnest and thickest places everywhere along the girdle. This means that AGSL's ranges will naturally be wider than GIA's. In the AGSL system 1.4-4.2% = Thin to Slightly Thick.

Would i be better off finding a AGSL Diamond that has a Medium to slightly thick girdle or is a Thin to Slightly Thick acceptable in a 4 prong mount. (chipping etc)

This is the diamond, nice for me that my girlfriend did not like the look of anything bigger than a 32 point in a B&M store, so I'm kind of on a quest for the best proportioned/color diamond i can find.

You're very welcome. RE the girdle, Thin-STK should be just fine. I'd just add that the skill of the setter is every bit as important as the diamond details.
