Girdle Thickness Difference Between GIA and Sarin Report

I have been looking for a diamond for a E-ring. Just want to thank everyone for helping me because my gf is very picky and I want to make sure I get something she will like.

I found a diamond I like, but the GIA report and the Sarin report does not match. Everything except the girdle thickness matches. GIA stated it is thin and Sarin stated it is slightly thick. Is this common for the two to differ?

The vendor who has this stone is one of the reputable vendor. Should I be concern since the GIA and Sarin report is different?

Take the total depth%-crown height%-pavilion depth% and tell me what you get.

Sorry, I made a mistake the total depth does not match 100%. The GIA does not have the crown % or the pavilion%. GIA depth is 62.1% and the table is 56%. The report states slightly thin to thin.

Sarin:
Depth 61.8%
Pavilion 43.0%
Crown 15%

I just don''t know if I should trust the vendor. The date on the Sarin report is tomorrow which kinda rasise a red flag.

61.8-15-43=3.8 I guess that's a slightly thick girdle.

I know it's not really that simple... but Sarin gives the girdle range of the valleys.

I guess anyone can set the date to whatever, just like cameras.

3.9% - 1.8% normal thickness difference between the valleys and the peaks of the girdle thickness accounts for that difference.

GIA use a human observer to make a judgement at the thin spots (valleys) - an excellent system because often the stone has different thicknesses at diff places.

Also there are other minor facet structures that can change the girdle thickness at the valleys - so go with the GIA report data

either way it is not a problem

Also if the report is not more than a year or so old you can enter the gIA report # and stone weight here and get more info from GIA

GarryN- Thanks for the advice. The report is on the GIA website. It makes me feel a lot better that it is common the Sarin and the GIA report do not match.
