Hi,

I have seen the follwing on the internet:

"When giving girdle size, HRD uses another notation than GIA, and because of that the girdle will appear about 1.7% thicker on a HRD-report than on a GIA"

I''ve also seen a 3.7% girdle listed as medium on a HRD certificate.

Does anyone know the notation that HRD uses for girlde thickness? (I can''t find this on their website)?

And is 3.5% a medium girdle, I have always thought that .7 to 1.7% was ideal?

Thanks

depends where you''re measuring.

.7-1.7 could be vewwy vewwy thin, dpending on where that measurement is.

3.5% would be medium the way it sounds like HRD does it.

AGS does the thinnest and thickest, I believe this would be the grading standards for the thick part: http://diamonds.pricescope.com/agsideal.asp
