Ok, I feel pretty educated about clarity and color, but what about the girdle? What is considered more desirabel - thik, thin....who cares, don''t worry about it??

And is flourencece BAD??

I also have some questions about the proportions for a round diamond and what they really should be.

Somewhere down along the line, I have convinced myself that I need a 2Ct Diamond. I went looking by myself last night and I now have major sticker shock. For whatever reason I thougth about $10K for 2 Cts...... but I tihnk I''m way off.

There isn''t much difference sizewise between 1.75 and 2.00 is there? Really?

I''m starting to wonder if I can get a better deal on line but I have a fear of such a large purchase over the internet. Just in general.

HELP!!

griddle: from what i read it doesn't really matter. but you want to avoid extremes. ie thin to extra thick

flourencece: it's not bad. some ppl like it. it's a light blue hue. but those diamonds are generally marked lower even tho they are more rare

size from 1.7 to 2.0: pictures are here but it will depend on the cut

online prices are better

btw, others will chime in with far more knowledge. i'm just regurgitating what i've crammed in the last 2 weeks

Thank you! I like that hand shot with the 4 sizes. Nice....

Assuming we are talking about well-cut RB diamonds......

On the low end, a thin girdle is fine; be a bit more cautious about very thin or extremely thin.
On the higher end, the concern isn't so much durability as it is loss of spread for the weight.

Thin, thin to medium, thin to slightly thick, medium, and medium to thick are all fine.

In stone of equal cut quality (fine make), the 1.75 stone won't look much different than the 2.00 stone if they aren't side by side. There's a huge difference in the wallet, though, so if you can find a decent 1.7ish stone, that's a smart buy.

im right there withyou...this whole process has totally freaked me out and little things bug me about specific diamonds. im looking for radiants, square radiants at that, and none are meeting my specs on the gemappraiser calculator thing. its frustrating for people like myself who dont know much. there is so much to an actual diamond its crazy and no one can really offer any help on here since they cant see the diamond in person.

i would prob avoid extremes and maybe very thick (hides carat weight) or very thins (could chip).
i think thin, med, and thick are ideal.

Hi Kelly! I would def purchase online to maximise your budget and get you as close to the 2ct mark as possible. Flouro isn''t bad at all - it is quite beneficial in warmer colours as it can make the stone appear whiter.

I am not 100% sure but if you are looking for an ideal cut RB, you won''t find dangerously thin or overly thick girdles in this ideal range, so you should be ok.

Check out WF or GOG for some gorgeous ideal cut stones. I purchased from WF and had it shipped to Australia and can totally understand your hesitation about buying online. But with a trusted PS vendor you absolutely don''t have to worry. I would recommend WF in a heartbeat - their service is second to none and they have killer stones at a great price! Many PSers have bought from GOG too and there are raving reviews of this company too. They both have returns if you are not happy with your diamond and have upgrade policies (if sometime down the track you want to hit that magic 2ct mark!

This is what an ideal cut H VS1 will be, as you can see a lot more than $10K, but you can drop colour and clarity and save $$$

This one is closer to budget for you, don''t forget to ask for PS discount, and whether it''s eyeclean if you are interested

You can also try GOG for other stones. Good luck!!
