I do not know if it is okay for me to post yet another topic, but thought the subject title might be better for these questions.

I was just looking at several websites selling diamonds. I am slowly (and I do mean slowly) catching on on what to look for, but now know that I want either vvs1 down to vs2 , 1.37 -1.50 ct, g orh (preferably G), Round H & A.

NOW, what girdle , table, depth, measurements and culet numbers do I need to look for? My jeweler is going to ask me what I am looking for and I am going to initially say AGS 0, but if she cannot come up with that, I want to be ready with other specifics!

By the way AGS 0...how is that different from AGS triple zero?

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF YOU HELPING ME!!!

ally,
here are my personal numbers that I like:

table: 55-56 %
depth: 60-62%
crown angle: 34.4ish-34.9
pav angle: 40.5-40.8 (my stone is 40.9 but the other numbers were right in my preferred range)
girdle: thin-med
polish/symm: EX/EX or ID/ID
culet: none or vs is fine too

ETA: belle's and julie are much quicker than me

Mssalvo,

The info from a diamond I was looking at had 1.21 % for the girdle, not wording like thin-med.

Also, it showed crown depth and pavillikon depth of 14.74 and 41.03%.

How do these figures compare to the way that you like to look at?

ALSO, culet you list as none or vs.....I have seen pointed...is that bad???

No, pointed culet is good, as is none or vs (very small).

I''m not MrsS., but glad to help.

On AGS reports, they will list the girdle percentages. On GIA, they use words like thin, med, sl th (slightly thick).

The cut grading chart (http://diamonds.pricescope.com/round.asp) tells how the words correspond to the percentages. Looking at Class 1A: Thin to Medium (1.0% to 3.0%); Medium to Slightly thick (1.7% to 4.5%).

The crown and pavilion can be described by either the angles or by the % of the diamond''s total depth (i.e. the depth from the table to the girdle is the crown height and the depth from the girdle to the culet is the pavilion depth). See the diamond diagram here: https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp. For class 1A you have Crown height of 14-16.3% and Pavilion Depth of 42.8-43.2%.
