Hi :wavey:

If a gemstone has a color description of '60', I know '6' refers to medium dark but what about the '0'?

I have looked up on the saturation scale, there is no '0' on it. It starts with a scale of 1-6!

Can someone please explain? Thank you!

Are you referencing AGL's color, saturation, and tone scale or GIA's? They're not the same, but they are based on the same idea.

Hi TL

Ha, you got me there!. I was browsing Wildfishgems and have noticed that most color descriptions are given as 50, 60, 65, 70, 75 and even 80. I just took it for granted that this site is using the GIA grading color scale. For a '65', I read it as medium dark/strong saturation. But now, I am not sure anymore. Maybe you can clarify? Thanks!

If Ed isn't using a system that he denotes as AGL, or otherwise, then how are we supposed to know what it means? He should specify this on his website. I don't know if this is his own home grown system or otherwise. For example, Multicolour.com uses the GIA hue/saturation/tone grading system, so it's easy to figure out there.

That's good, it looks like he uses some grading system akin to that of the AGL.
