Hello all,

Please help me to understand why mostly big stone with the GIA cert don''t have the GIA inscription on it? One of the vendor that I am talking to have told me that. Is that true?

Thanks alot.

It can be done on request - by GIA (time consuming/expensive) or by other independents (e.g., Dave Atlas-aka Oldminer).

Have whatever you like inscribed on the girdle.

The GIA Gem Trade Lab Diamond Dossier, issued for diamonds weighing under one carat, features "as an added security benefit, a microscopic laser inscription of the Dossier''s identification number." Seems logical that the more comprehensive report would have a laser inscription...but not the case. This issue has been raised before on PS. Thanks for your excellent question.

Diamonds accompanied by a GIA Dossier have an inscription because there is no inclusion plot on the Dossier, whereas the Diamond Grading Report has one.

(Hey Jeff, ''logical'' and ''GIA'' don''t seem to mix so well right now it seems.
