GIA Cut Grade of My Pet Rock

Hi.......I finally received the certificate for my pet rock today. As I suspected, the cut grade GIA gave it was Very Good, not Excellent. I anticipated this for two reasons:

1. My stone has a larger than ideal table
2. My stone''s polish was rated good

Here are the total proportions from the updated GIA Grading Report

Now that I have the true measurements of my stone, I was able to finally plug the numbers in to the Cut Advisor and here''s what it said:

Light Return: Excellent
Fire: Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread: Excellent
Total Visual Performance: 1.1 (Within TIC Range)

I know my diamond is absolute beautiful. I''m very proud to own and be able to be it''s custodian for the next few decades. I don''t really care that GIA graded my stone as only Very Good. I would rather have my larger table''d, shallower cut diamond over many of the steeper/deeper stones GIA is giving Excellent cut grades to.

Anyway, thought you guys might find my rocks measurements interesting.

And I surely love shallower diamonds, perhaps because I only can see with one eye.

My shallow diamond is 59.5% depth, 58% table, 14% crown and 43% pavilion.
Never I will sell it.
From a 3m distance it looks bigger than my 1.15 H&A millenium diamond.
Also more 'flashy'. And it's only 0.64!
GIA, and even AGS, can say what they want about proportions.
I don't care, only for calculating the price.

Even something like a 39° crown and 39° pavilion could look very nice don't you think so?
Surely better than a 41.4-35.5 combo...
And I saw a lot of those (41.4-35.5 or even worse) in Antwerp.
So when I go buy diamonds, I avoid steep-deep, I take my loupe and my idealscope to avoid the ring of the death and i take a copy of the newest rapaport sheet.

Thanks Kaleigh. I actuall purchased this stone with only rudimentary knowledge. I knew that I wanted a GIA graded stone and it had to sparkle like crazy. I didn''t know a pavilion angle from a crown height. Now, I have learned so much more since buying my stone and I have obsessed over not knowing the numbers. Now that I know the numbers and the cut grade, I''m actually quite pleased. My stone''s beautiful and who cares what GIA''s cut grade says!!
