First off, thank you to all who participate in this forum. I''ve learned a lot, which has helped both me and my future wife with respect to our decision about a ring. We''ve decided on a tacori pave twist, and are in the process of finding a diamond. I''m getting very close to placing an order online, but wanted to run it by this forum to ask a few qs, make sure I''m not making a mistake, and ask for a little help on where I should go from here.

Here''s the diamond we are looking at:

Does this look good? The cut is listed only as "very good", but when I put the stats into the Holloway Cut Advisor, the stats look very good. The price is pretty low for comparably sized diamonds (along with the band, which by itself costs 2600, the whole ring will cost 10,300),so I''m wondering if I''m missing something.

Also, I have not done anything "in person" with respect to the ring. I live a long way from everything, and am pretty sure I am going to be buying online. We managed to try on the band when we were in a big city, so we know that my fiancee likes the look of the ring on her finger. I''m a little leary of buying the diamond online, but don''t see another option, really. What should I do, beyond checking the cert/Holloway, to make sure that I''m getting a decent diamond? I''m probably going to order through since1910.com

Again, Thanks so much.

the pavilion is too shallow, probably will have obstruction issue, no advisable for a ring.

can you request an idealscope image from that vendor?

Ditto, I would definitely want an Idealscope for this one plus the opinion of a trusted vendor who knows how to check for obstruction. Obstruction is where the stone visibly darkens at close scrutiny due to a shallow shallow angle combo or shallow pavilion angled stone due to the shadow of the viewer's head or body.

Gah. I feel like I''m never going to be able to comprehend all of the issues involved. Thanks for the help, though.

If you need us to go into more detail then just say! Its difficult to get to grips with this stuff!

Basically what we are saying is due to the pavilion angle measurement of this diamond, that it might look dark when viewed closely, a diamond with a pavilion angle of around 40.6 - 41 degrees with a complementary crown angle of around 34 - 34.8 degrees could be a better choice.

We can help you find soemthing if you tell us what you want and your budget!
