Getting personal diamond GIA certified in NY

As a consumer, can I get a stone that I am considering to buy GIA certified. If so, where to go in NY, and can I just walk in and get it certified while I wait. Or is there a waiting time. Where is GIA located in NY?

I think you should be able to walk in and leave your diamond but it may take days for GIA to provide the certificate.

Hi, I took an old diamond to GIA in CA, and they got it back to me in a day, however, I was also told that if I had called to make an appointment first instead of just showing up, I could have had it in a few hours (if I made it in the morning). I woild give GIA in NY a call to see what they say.

That's what I heard as well...maybe I showed up in a slow week? It was about a year ago.
