Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the cut

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

If you love the small corners and windmills from what I can tell from the pics it looks pretty.

re: dead zones
A dead zone stays dark even when tilted.
Dark zones that flash with slight tilt are not dead and can provide the contrast that forms the patterns.
When they are to big or don't flash with tilt is when they become an issue.
I don't see any big dark zones so if the dark zones flash with tilt they are fine.
There is not enough info here to judge that.

Bottom line if you love it, enjoy it!!!!
The right one for you will speak to you! and make you want to say Mine! Mine!!

I made a youtube video. lol. it isn't great and kind of shaky since I was making a video on the iphone while holding a magnifying glass.

Clearly I am obsessed with this ring. lol.
Top much obstruction, ie camera is to close to the diamond to tell much from the vid. sorry.
At points in the vid it looks 10 miles without being too dark which is great.
At other times it looks overly dark most likely from being over obstructed.

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Thanks so much for your time, everyone. I truly appreciate it.

I looked for the crown measurement, and I don't see it anywhere. Yeah, that video is a mess, lol... something I attempted. I wish I could do one of those sexy glamour-ring-spins-around things...

I am definitely NOT sending this one back, as I have absolutely fallen in love with it. My only issue was that it did seem "smallish" at first... knowing this in a textbook way and then seeing it in person was a little.... disappointing isn't the right word... I guess it was more like "oh, wow, it IS smaller than a 1.5 round"... but I am not going to risk sending it back for the 1.8. The more I wear it, the bigger it seems.

My friend who took the macros for me kept stopping to say "OMG this ring is gorgeous" and then she would kind of giggle... I guess diamond do make people happy! I have literally been staring at it since last night. It was so sparkly last night in the restaurant that DH wants me to stop wearing it and put it in the safe. lol.

O.K. enough diamond ****... Thanks again! :wavey:

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Aww, that is so great that the diamond turned out to be "the one" for you! :appl: Your ring is beautiful!

LOL! I was kinda giggling to myself when I read your earlier post proclaiming that though everyone else says Asschers face up like smaller stones 1.5 Asschers look like 1.5 ct Asschers to YOU! When it didn't seem like you'd ever seen one *in person*. :cheeky: So I can't say I'm surprised that you had a bit of an AHA moment.

VERY glad the stone speaks to you so strongly & leaves you w/o a bit of doubt as to what to do! It looks lovely to me. Wear it in health!

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Well, I see both points. Asschers are just different. Chunky stone... From certain angels, the ring looks large, like from a diagonal (looking at it on my hand) and from the side or back. Sometimes I will catch a glimpse of it and think it looks large, but when I am looking down at it, it can looks smallish. So my opinion of it changes. First opinion looking down on it... Yes, light bulb moment.

But, yes, you are definitely paying to see through the stone, which means you have to pay for stone that you don't see right away. It is too bad there isn't some kind of setting (realistic setting) where the stone could kind of hang where you could see all of it. The unset stones must be absolutely amazing to see!

DS, thanks!

Actually there is a great setting style by Daniel K that lets you see a lot of the stone. And I personally love it, having seen it in person. http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-specials/closeout-jewelry/rings/230CO1/ Daniel K Regal.

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

As as asscher owner myself I agree that seeing stones in person is important. I would not have been able to buy a stone from BN site unseen! That being said, I'm so happy that it worked out for you and that you are in love with your stone!! It looks very pretty! I would love to see some more pics in different lighting.

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Thanks for that. Gypsy. :errrr: As soon as I win Powerball, I am buying a Daniel K ring!

LM, I'll try to get some photos in a different light sometime this weekend. If anything, I figure it will help anyone who is considering BN to show what kind of product they deliver.

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

4 years later I am back to this thread. Final note: I was able to get all of the steps to light up. I didn't understand back then what a dead step is. I bought a10x lighted loupe and that is when I was able to get all steps to light up.

Is there such a thing as diamond polish? I don't know if I'm seeing surface dirt or can there be little surface scratches on the face?

How can I get this diamond jewelry store clean at home?

Oh,I am taking my original .75 brilliant (with a mess of imperfections, though none can be seen from the top) and making it into a pendant. I bought another unseen brilliant .37 round and if it looks good, will try and find another .37. So I'm thinking of a 3 stone pendant, but I am opento suggestions.

ETA: I found a bunch of cleaning posts and am reading them now.

Thanks!

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Ok, yeah, that is grime on the diamond. I cleaned it the other day and cleaned it three times today (steaming, hot water and ammonia, and now soaking in vodka. It has mostly come off but I want to get it all off.

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Don't mind me and no need to comment-- just throwing some more photos and vids to add to Blue Nile product photos.

I know she isn't perfect (thick girdle, small corners, thin windmills etc) but she's mine and I love her!

Refresher: 1.52 Asscher, color G VS1

This video was taken outside under my porch and sunny outside.

Oh to the moderator. PS wouldnt upload my videos.

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

I bought a macro lens for my iphone, so I wanted to add hopefully better pics. (I'm still practicing)I also have a pic of my original engagement ring-- .75 MRB next to the 1.52 asscher to see how small asschers face up.

I don't mind the spaces between my rings because I mix and match depending on how I feel each day and where I am going, etc. I also have a comfort plat wedding band I wear often by itself.

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

So pretty! I just love asschers, too!

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Thank you. I've been obsessed with asschers for a long time. I'm still thrilled that I have my dream ring (of course I wish it was 2 carats, but I think that is chasing the dragon...). It gets exceptionally filthy under normal conditions. But I    it!

I still stare at it all the time, and I still get lots of compliments on it.

The best asscher in the world is one you love 4 years later.
Actually that goes for any diamond.
Congrates!!

Re: Getting my 1.52 Asscher tomorrow! And my thoughts on the

Thanks, Karl. I definitely agree with your point.

This first pic is without the macro lens, taken with my ipad at 10:15 this morning in my bathroom in natural light. (Yes, my poor fingers are dry and bloated-- thanks medicine)
