Wedding getting guest list from fi?

Did any of you have a tough time trying to get the number of people he wants to invite out of him? He has an address book sitting in the car and I don''t know how to explain to him that I need an approximate number. I told him the hotel needs to know and he wanted to know why they had to know a year in advance. Well I don''t know! That''s just what they told me in the email, I''m assuming it''s so they know which room to rent for us in the hotel but really I don''t know. Anyways. Should I just get the address book myself and assume every last person in it is invited? Or do I simply wait for him to get it to me. I haven''t brought it up in like a month so it''s not like I''ve been bugging him about it. How long before you guys had to have your approx. guest list size?

Do not by any means go behind his back and get the names yourself!!
Let him know you need a "tentative" amount and give him a final date to give it to you. It doesn't have to be the final guest list, just an approximate based on how many people you all are going to invite. More than likely the venue is trying to decide which room and how much to quote you in your contract. If you know how many people you want to stay under, then let him know how many people he needs to keep his list around (prefferably similar to yours), and tell him you need it by the end of next week. It took me about 3 weeks to finally get my FI's list out of him. I had to remind him multiple, multiple times. If the venue needs it, then the venue needs it. No questions asked.

Oh thank goodness he's going to give me a number tomorrow. Nevermind everyone.
I wasn't going to go behind his back though because he specifically told me he wanted to invite every last person in the address book so. You know.

I emailed my FI a guest list and told him to review it, make additions, and send it on to his parents. I wasn''t about to wait around for him to take the time to think of everyone he wants to invite, but then again, it takes me days to get him to sign birthday cards (like just signing nothing more) so an actual list would probably take months. I was very pleased that FI had no additions to make and neither did his parents! My parents on the other hand...

Just sit him down, tell him to grow up and start taking this freakin wedding seriously boy. If you don''t have a guest list in 24 hours, then I will invite people as I see fit!
