Gene mentioned in another thread that he cut an umbalite garnet to be presented to Neil Diamond at the Grammy Awards. He said that he couldn''t post pics until it was over.

Ok, I better not get in trouble here for this. THIS STONE IS NOT FOR SALE, and I won''t cut another one like it.

It was given to Neil Diamond as a gift last week. It''s an Umbalite Garnet (his birthstone), cut with a frosted diamond in the pavilion. These frosted designs are tough to photograph, but the main diamond is frosted, then there is a thin polished facet, and then a very thin frosted outline.

The color on this stone was just fantastic, I bought it with the intention of doing an Asscher cut, since it was shaped perfectly for it, but then this came up, and well, Neil trumped the ladies of Pricescope.

The cut is definitely more masculine and fitting for a man. I too am curious about the carat weight and dimensions.
