Gemstone Setting Newbie

Hi,
I am a gemstone newbie and have a question…
I have a cushion gemstone that measures 9.4 x 10.4 mm that I’d like to set but I am unsure of the setting size I should get.
Would it fit in a 10x10? Would 10x12 be too big? I have no clue whatsoever

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

your 10x12 would be too big. Are the prongs normal? not chevron? if so, you have a little give on the 10x10, it could possibly fit

have you looked into any LOGR (Lord of Gem Rings) on ebay? he can custom make the head to fit your stone for a reasonable price.

Hey Justme, do you have a budget in mind and a style preference?

Depending on how pillowy your cushion is, it might need either a 9x9 or 10x10 setting. I have a 9.6 x 9.6 mm cushion and the 9x9 fits better because of the rounded sides.

I looked at a few but was unsure about if they would fit or not. I didn''t realize they''d change the head. I will check them out again. Thanks

I'd like to stay between $200-$400 if possible. I like this setting (Sorry I saved it & forgot which Pser's it was) which I know will be more than my budget with sidestones.

It might fit a 10x10 but it won’t be pretty – you are probably going to see gaps on the sides. If you are going with an LOGR, I’d customize the head. I’d do a 9x10 head since your stone is pillowy like mine.

I just wanted to say thanks to D&T, Gailey & Chrono who helped with my questions about setting my stone. Thanks D&T for pointing me to LOGR. I got a LOGR setting and I think it came out pretty nice.

Now details please, what size setting did you go with or did you email them your stone stats and have them customize the setting for you? Did you upgrade your diamonds and are you happy with the diamonds and the setting?

I am pretty happy that I actually pulled this off and that it looks halfway decent considering it was my first attempt.
I did have the head made to fit the stone. Chrono had said a 10x10 won’t be pretty and I didn’t want to be disappointed with my first setting so I decided to just have it made to fit. I upgraded to the full cut melee. They are pretty white & sparkly to me. I’ll take some more pictures when the sun is out.
