JoeB,

I can't comment on the price since we do not have all the information needed
to give you an advice. I do know GemScan since I'm leaving in Canada....

You absolutely need an independant appraisal on this stone.
First of all, I do not know what are the criterias GemScan use to
give a "good" for cut. Also, if you're loosing this stone in the future,
your insurance company will try to replace it with another VS G stone....
no matter what the cut is. So you need to find someone who will be able
to provide you table%, girdle thickness, pavilion depth & crown angle.

For your clarity question, I was wondering if someone looked at the stone
under the scope?

Trichrome.

BTW, stones carrying a GemScan cert are sold for less money than similar
stones graded by GIA here in Canada : why? part because it costs more
to send a canadian stone to GIA and also part because GIA is known worldwide
while GemScan is runned by 2 guys in Toronto if I remember well.

Did you read my post???

I did get an independant apraisal for the diamond! With Harold Weinstein.. which I think is a very reputable appraisal firm here in the GTA. Harrold's staff appraised the diamond loose at 13,600$

That's more than 2 times what I'm paying for it! They are appraised it as VVS1 when GemScan gave it a VS1.. And yes, I did use a 10X to try and find inclusions and couldn't! We even used a microscope (which is much higher than 10X, and still couldn't find inclusions!)

Hi Joe,

Our searches for finely cut princess cuts have led us to some Canadian sources that had stones with reports from GemScan. To date I haven't found any kind of problems with their grading. Some people came on here and said that they are a liberal lab but when I asked for some proof or how many diamonds they've actually seen wth GemScan reports I got no response. So far my expreiences with diamonds graded from GemScan have been positive. Until I see otherwise that is my opinion.

Peace,
Rhino

Rhino,

have you look at rounds evaluated by GemScan?

I wonder what a "verygood" for the cut of a diamond cert by GemScan
will receive by GIA, AGS or even you ?

Princess world is of course different...

For clarity, I've seen a couple of SI1s (RB) that were true SI2...or
even worse... they were full of black spots...

Trichrome.
