This is an article in the December 5, 2022 New York Times. I believe those without a subscription to the paper should be able to read the article for the next two weeks using my "gift link" above.

American colored gems mentioned in the article: peridots and chrome pyrope garnets from Arizona, Oregon sunstone, Maine tourmaline, lapis lazuli, Montana sapphires, quartz crystals from Arkansas, “Great American Diamonds” exhibit at the Smithsonian, kunzite, red tourmaline, morganite, spessartite garnet, benitoite, star garnet, blue topaz, and more.

None of this is news to most of us, but I thought some of you might like to see the article.
