Hi! I just recently purchased a diamond that came with certification from AGL (Antwerp Gemological Laboratory) in Belgium. Has any one heard of this gem lab and can you please tell me if they''re reputable??? Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Kimy,

I have never heard of that laboratory.

I googled the following 'AGL "Antwerp Gemological Laboratory"' and there were no results.

I would recommend getting an independent appraisal of the diamond within the stated return policy terms to protect yourself.

I haven't heard of AGL either. I would suggest that you take your diamond to an independant appraiser to be professionally evaluated. At least that way you will know more about the labratory as well as if the diamond has been accurately graded....

The HRD is the "known" lab entity from that region of the world. Possibly someone could be contacted at HRD to advise you of the nature or reputation of the AGL in Antwerp. Maybe the lab is a "member" of HRD as HRD is an educational organization much like the GIA is.

At the bottom of the left side of the above page is an email address for HRD in Antwerp.

Just had a look in Kompass Diamond 2004 (Antwerp Diamond Directory) and they are not included in gemological services. Perhaps you should consider an independent appraiser
