Gem E Wizard released a fee iPhone and iPad app today, called GemeSquare. It allows you to accurately describe a gems color.

So interesting. Have you tried it yet and if so how accurate do you think the APP is in describing color? Does the APP take in consideration lighting conditions? Thanks!

It's up to the user to view their gem in proper light. Gems are graded with a pure white light, not a florescent or CFL bulbs which are only a partial spectrum of visible light. Typically daylight not in direct bright sun, or full spectrum bulbs is how stones are viewed when being graded.

Very cool--I cannot wait to try it.

When you say pure white light do you mean 5000 K (D50) white light? I been wondering what type of lighting is standard for evaluating the color of gemstones!
