Hi All,

I''m curious about what the colours mean on a GCAL Optical Symmetry analysis. I called up GCAL on several occasions, and no one is willing to give me a straight answer.

From what I can see, white is definitely bad, b/c the placement of these white marks are consistent with the areas of light leakage as indicated on the Optical Brilliance analysis. But can anyone tell me what blue, red, yellow, purple, and black mean?

Thanks!

just map it to ASET colors.

Thanks for your reply. Is it safe to say, then, that GCAL simply uses some sort of variation on the ASET? One thing I noticed that differs is that the GCAL Optical Symmetry invariably produces a colour band along the outer edge that differs from the colours closer to the center. ASET doesn''t produce this, as the colours produced in an ASET presentation along the outer edge tend to be the same as those exhibited inwards.

When I try mapping the colours from ASET to GCAL Symmetry Analysis, the above discrepency leaves me still confused. Is there any way this can be reconciled?

Thanks,

Ian

Hi Ian,
This should be moved to Rocky Talky. You''ll get more responses there. You pose a good question. I look forward to reading the answers.

no one really knows.
Garry has been bugging them to explain it but no answers.

You cant really map it to another scope because you don''t know what angles each color covers.
