Well, I finally did it! The ring I bought ( http://makeashorterlink.com/?V24445BF1 ) was perfect! She loved it, and wow did it look good in natural light! We took our annual foliage trip up to Maine, and at one of our usual stops, a series of waterfalls I popped the question. She was completely surprised, helped in part by my planting of false information. 
She spent the weekend looking at it, playing with the sparkle/reflection, and generally enjoying the whole experience. I bought the ring from Diamond Brokers of Florida, and am very pleased with everything. The stone looks amazing!
