I am traveling to Amsterdam in March for an event. One place that I have to stop and shop is Gassan Diamonds. I was there 11 years ago and bought a beautiful .75 ct champagne colored diamond. This time, I have my eyes on a Gassan 121. Does anyone have one currently in a ring? I''m wondering what type of setting will permit the most light to reach the stone for maximum brilliance. If you have one...do people notice the difference? (I mean "we" would, but do ordinary people comment on how sparkly your diamond is?)

Thanks!

So I''m wondering if no one has a Gassan 121?? Or..has ever heard of one. It''s a round stone with 121 facets. I saw one side by side to a Roberto Coin Cento and the difference was noticable to me. The people at Gassan have been so good to me. This is something that I''ve wanted for years. Just trying to decide on setting. Maybe a bezel set pendant? Don''t know...but I was hoping someone on this forum had seen one of these and wanted to get some opionions.

Thanks!

I don''t have one myself, but we were in Amsterdam last year and visited Gassan. We got to see and play with the Gassan 121s and I have to say that we both found them to be quite gorgeous. We almost bought one. As far as settings go, I would have a hard time putting one into a pendant setting as I would want to be able to see it and play with it, but that''s just me.

Have fun on your trip. I loved Amsterdam and I will be so jealous if you buy a Gassan. You must come back and post lots of pictures!!

I do have one... technically. My boyfriend and I bought one when we went to Gassan Diamonds in Amsterdam last fall. We plan on getting engaged (soon, hopefully) and so he let me pick out the diamond I wanted while we were there. From what I can recall it was amazing, not to mention, unique! And even though it isn''t that big - .68 ct, it was quite expensive! Right now it is set in a plain white gold band with 6 prongs. Although, after he gives it to me, I think we are going to get a different setting with a stronger metal.

Good luck!! :D

I googled it and it reminds me of the Star 129 - which I have seen in person. I think it''s a beautiful stone but I''m not sure how it would look in a piece with normal 58 facet diamonds in it.
