Garnet (Mail, spess) specialists?

Hi everyone- Short-time lurker, first-time poster, here! I am a colored gem lover like you all, and I was hoping you could help me find a cutter who specializes in garnet. Specifically, I'm looking for a Mali garnet in any shape other than oval that's at least 9x7mm or 8mm if the sides are even.

I'm also looking for a spess garnet, ideally a trillion. I remember going through the vendor links once and there was one vendor who was alllll about garnets.

And as far as inclusions, do these species tend to have more than others?

Hmm, trying to think who that all-about-garnets vendor could be. If I were you, I'd try Prima, Barry Bridgestock at ACStones, and New Era Gems. Let me think if there are others...

I don't think there are any that cuts only garnets; there are many on the list who will facet a variety of stones. Many will facet whatever rough they are able to procure. Gene loves trilliants but no longer accepts commissions. Spessartite and demantoid tend to not be clean compared to other garnet types but you should be able to find a good selection of eye clean ones.

The vendor I'm thinking of -- I believe -- was based in Connecticut and said to call because they have all kinds of garnet on hand. I soooo wish I could remember. Anyway, thanks again!
