G to H more buying advice

Found a ring which I think is reasonably priced. Figured I'd ask some experts on what they'd pay or charge. Also, to keep my title some what relevant to save on some dough I didn't think dropping my color down to H would be horribly noticeable on the Tacori 2638RDP6.5 (comments concerns?).

setting: http://www.tacori.com/engagement/2638rdp65.html

Thanks in advance.

Dropping to H is just fine and with a vs2 stone it will be beautiful.......you will not be able to see a noticible difference. What are the specs of the stone table , depth, angles....it says 3x but what are the specifics?

table % 59%
depth 60.4%

does the picture below help. I'm trying to figure out the GIA and finding the crown table and pav angle.

punch the numbers into that calculator i was recommended on a previous thread and it stated my depth % might cause my girdle to be thick. can others confirm I'm doing this right.

I get a 3.9 on the HCA. The crown angle and the pavilion angle on this stone are not very complimentary. I'd keep looking.

What numbers did you put in for the angles? :( diamonds are hard. Thought I found a good one.

It really isn't all that hard! It is easiest when you buy from a vendor who has a selection of ideal cut diamonds with pictures and idealscope images. But if you are not open to that idea, here are some guidelines that will give you a better chance of ending up with one of the better GIA Excellent cut stones.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.0 (62.3 max)

crown angle: 34-35.0

pavilion angle: 40.6-41.0

girdle: thin, medium, slightly thick (or combo of those)

I love your setting! And H color is fine in a well cut stone.

I'm looking at a site tht just offers Gia or asg cert. so I wouldn't know how toget the crown. Idk how to read that off the Gia cert. anywho Christmas is here for most of y'all. Still 10 pm in Hawaii. Merry Christmas!!!!

What about this one. I'm attaching Gia and holloway cut advisor. Feel good about these numbers. Then again I'm a guy just hoping I pick a good diamond for my girl.

I can't read what is on that GIA report. If you look at the little diamond diagram with all the numbers on it, the crown angle number is the top number on the far right and the pavilion angle is on the far right at the bottom. Table is right on top of the stone in the center.

Actually, there is a key to reading the numbers at the bottom of the HCA page that you posted first.

The stone has potential. Will they provide you pictures of the stone or an idealscope image? I just wouldn't pay thousands of dollars to buy a diamond blind.

Blind diamond. It's from usaa. Think it's around 7.4k.

Also thanks for complimenting the setting. She picked it out like 9 months ago.

That diamond has a cutlet and flouresense. Something I'm not looking for. Thanks for the tip though.

For AGS, pointed = no culet. A culet is a facet, so the point would be cut off. Fluorescence is a personal preference, though.

OP, the stone RockyRaccoon found is very nice... and if you're worried about the G to H color difference, fluorescence will make it appear whiter. Is there a specific reason you are against fluorescence?

I would search for medium florescence with H colour, cheaper and whiter looking face up .
