How would a 2 ct round G color, well cut diamond look in bright sunlight? What effect does sunlight have on this type of color diamond?

A G color diamond will perform well under all conditions. The vast majority of people (if not ALL people) would be unable to discern the difference between a G stone and an E or F stone.

I'm not sure what you're asking about how sunlight affects it.....it shouldn't affect a G color any more than it would affect any other colorless or near-colorless diamond.

Hi,
The sunlight really has a positive effect on g color or better, unless the stone has med-strong blue flour.Even then it gives the stone a bluish tint if the sun rays hit it at a certain angle, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Th only thing you have to watch out is that the stone is not very strong blue as this will give it a hazy or milky effect!!

b.t.w what clarity and shape did you get?

Thanks for the info, just curious as I haven't seen many of the stone I'm looking at in direct sunlight. I haven't purchased one yet, still trying to find the 'right' one. Any ideas would be appreciated : )

I think your best bet is to go on the net, shop for the best value you can get for the type of stone you need, there are great deals on the net as most vendors work on a very tight margin of profit !! there are also money back guarantees if not satisfied.

good luck to you

I've been doing for this quite some time now and have seen a bunch of stones in the city where I live. I've narrowed it down to what I want and know about how much I should pay, but so far, I've only seen one stone that really caught my eye. It seems like buying online is so difficult, as very few sites have pictures of their diamonds, which is obviously important, especially for Si1s.

most interent vendors would be more than happy to discuss the diamond with you and give you a description of what the imperfection looks like.
You would be saving a lot of money !!

Unfortunately, everyone says their stones are perfect so who can you believe? It's just so hard to spend this kind of $ on something you haven't even seen.

Hi, me1234: I can appreciate your concerns in buying online. If you like the idea of buying online, there are online vendors who provide a wide array of information and several photos of their diamonds......Good Old Gold, Whiteflash, & NiceIce. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them.

There are others, like Diamond Brokers of Florida, who don't post the pics on the website, but can provide them to you via email if you inquire about a stone.

Lastly, most of the more reputable vendors here will ship to an appraiser near you which allows you to inspect the stone with your own eyes and get the appraiser's stamp of approval on it before purchasing it.

For all of these reasons, I personally think online purchasing is a better choice, but there are those who still prefer the store-front, walk in and see the diamonds way of shopping. Whichever makes you feel most comfortable is best, but information/photos with online purchases are easily procured if you choose the online route.

Let me pipe in here and say that I have a G stone and I love it. For me it is a great balance between colorless premium markup and the area where diamonds begin to really exhibit some show of color to the eye...e.g. around I or similar. I would even have gone H most likely but we got lucky with this G being one that we really liked. We also viewed an E unset side by side and saw no difference at all in color. I would definitely buy a G again, and my earrings are G's as well and they are very white. Go with what looks best to your eyes.

Also...diamonds do not look that great regardless in direct sunlight in my opinion...so I don't think the G color has much to do with it..
