Having some fun with trying to catch the opal-effect some gems show. Its impossible to catch it well. Camera makes it somehow flat and even and takes the interesting life out of it witch is seen when the gems move. Here chrysoberyl (pear shape), two sapphire and a opal from Magdalena, Jalisco in Mexico.

Today more sun for the milkyness. Its a unheated sapphire.

Is that tree peony behind you!? love peony!

could you show us more of your blue pear sapphire? Curious how the blue performs when away from sun light.

Yes its a peony:)

The sapphire is very unique, as more sun as he gets as more skyblue he goes. In full sun its comparable with a top quality skyblue cobalt spinel but in combination with a lovely sleepyness. Usually sapphires not perform well in direct sunlight, this one goes as more skyblue as more sun as he get. Never saw a sapphire with that behave beside that one. Ive a weakness for unique and special gems. Will upload more pics during the next time...

weak yellow light

In yellow light its a lavender blue.Camera makes it same skyblue color as in sunlight under strong yellow light but it looks lavender blue. In weak yellow light the camera took the color accurately.

The square sapphire is painful - color, shape, texture, everything; I love the fog.

The little white one is the one I want to hear more about.

I would say its a Gueda sapphire. If heat it turns blue.Equally full of extremely tiny inclusions witch gave a lovely appereance. Depend on the lightning conditions he show some yellow to yellowish-orange pastel tones as well as some blue shines from the tiny inclusions in strong light.

Love your pear! I wonder if this one would have the similar magic...

Somebody will dream of how blue it may get! Others, of golden moonstone [no confusion www]. I, of just this stone.
