I ordered some Cz’s to check out different shapes and sizes from Chris and I’m so impressed by them!
I wanted to see what my 10 mm round would look like in person and if I liked a 9 mm asscher (affordable for me in a lab diamond) or if I need to hold out for a bigger asscher 10mm (not affordable right now).
I am having too much fun playing around with them! I have an empty setting I was able to just set the stones on.
Also shown is a 10mm hydrothermal emerald from Finewater. I’m going to put that in a yellow gold CVB setting hopefully soon.
I want to set the 10mm asscher CZ now! I love it! Is it worth doing? What is the scoop on these stones. Thanks 40FDB9C7-AB3F-4B3A-999C-125574C307F9.jpeg C1CAC75B-8B56-4D74-AF0F-FC0E13FBB0AE.jpeg BDFC3DE6-E1FA-4BB1-8B34-999A61A2CF8E.jpeg 019E8143-77D2-4D45-A907-5DAF0259D910.jpeg 2293F782-CC69-4DE6-8060-F5FC0CC3E15C.jpeg 9A83B7DB-A838-4922-8BFF-D319E882603A.jpeg DE8FF3B0-2056-494F-AE9F-0C03CB085357.jpeg 59882896-E463-473F-99FF-65AC9EBF7129.jpeg 6B6C4A20-1308-41B4-9DA6-0DA309A4E2E1.jpeg 357209FA-969C-471F-BBAE-5C76865E8142.jpeg B4EFD30D-F29E-49A7-99B5-23455F8C0334.jpeg E399530D-1456-49E8-98F4-1AE64C1A4FED.jpeg AA819F47-27EC-4EF5-B752-FCB2EFA3CDA0.jpeg

I think it's definitely worth setting the 10mm CZ asscher since your end goal is the 10mm lab diamond. This way you can wear the shape/size around for a while and be sure you love it enough to pull the trigger on the diamond.

Do you know how these stones hold up at all? I wonder if I should get a cheapie setting if it’s not going to last or a nice one as a long term alternative to my diamond thanks!

I have Chris CZs that I set in sterling settings for earrings. They are fun. I have only had them a couple of months so I cannot attest to their long term wear. When they are super clean, I think they could fool someone. Here is a post I did with them compared to my real stones: https://www.instagram.com/p/CRejPkgBHdX/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

But I notice that when they get dirty, they don't shine as well through the dirt. In my opinion, a diamond can get dirty and still sparkle. This is just what I have noticed and the cut of the stone that I have is so different from an asscher. Personally I wouldn't put them in an expensive setting, but that is just me. :)

ETA - that emerald though is just gorgeous!! Love it!

My experience is the same as @Mreader.
I have Chris CZs in silver settings for earrings and a pendant. I've not had one set in a ring so it's hard to comment on long-term wear (though I do have another CZ in a ring I used to wear quite a bit).

They look beautiful and I would have no concerns about them being able to handle everyday use, but I too find that when dirty tend to look a bit duller than diamonds.

Thanks for the insight on the CZ’s! I wish I could just set it in what I have but it’s much too big. Thanks RE the emerald I can’t wait to get it set when the funds allow!

Great to know thanks so much!

You could go for moissanite to test out asscher sizes. I’ve had the same experience as others re: cz looking dirty faster, but I don’t have that problem with moissanite.

I just got an 8x10 emerald cut from starsgem for about $400 in 14k yellow gold, and my ring size is an 8 1/2.

I've had many a Chris Cz in many types of settings, gold and silver alike. They've held up for years. They do get dirty, but they are durable as all get out. I'm very hard on my hands [this is going back a decade though]. I've since sold them off I'm sorry I don't have any old photos to share-but they are worth it. Don't spend too much on the settings though, it's inexpensive fun. 10k gold isn't too hefty of a price to work with though :)

Oh boy! Look what I got now! (Chris CZ again) 6E3564F9-AFD6-4499-889A-922CA2D1F76F.jpeg FBDC69A6-40DD-4B59-BD9F-48ED53B1E570.jpeg B23F7A6C-B391-4A20-8503-39B9F9A6CC39.jpeg
I am in trouble because I LOVE THIS!! Like a lot. I want to upgrade my MRB already that isn’t even set yet. I had never seen an antique cut like this before. I wonder what the AVC looks like compared to this? I think I may get an AVC moissanite to try out the look. The facets!! Now I see what everyone is talking about on these forums hahaha.

I have been purchasing cz's for years and making different projects and comparing looks for different things and his are far and above the best I've ever had. The jeweler I've used never once had a problem setting them and they've held up. they're just gorgeous. And his slightly warmer toned stones in the older cuts? dont even get me started. GORG.. that stone is beautiful!!

I got another stone to see if I like 9.5x 9.5 size for an asscher. This is the best asscher of the bunch!! It’s cut different from the other two, has wider corners and is bright and amazing in all lighting. I’m looking into getting a setting for it. What do you guys think of this Ivy and Rose one? They can modify it for 9.5 asscher and set it for about $500 total. 0C2B30DE-21F1-41DB-95DE-224BE01F3BA4.jpeg C17B7367-3BEC-4091-9A97-C3195D900FF6.jpeg 7FAE0152-1699-4186-BAC7-6AC7AFABEB04.jpeg 97AFEE45-D889-4EFD-AAE5-B1691B2FCFB7.jpeg 74D2A6ED-7F83-4EEF-8EFF-8C20048C9CFB.jpeg F621E721-7FC5-4A62-AA51-D3384D29ECD9.jpeg

I found these others as well that they would adjust for the size but they are $800+ without setting the stone. The one with plain prongs they said they can change to double claw prongs. I think they are really pretty, I would probably want platinum which is $1,000. So I think more than I wanted to spend on this project. But, if it’s a really nice setting maybe I could reuse it if I get a moissanite later? 65A3BE41-B76E-43A9-9325-24A065846F1A.jpeg EC0A69CD-56B3-4966-84D4-693E0CED4BFA.jpeg 3804783F-F003-448B-92BB-952AE3A6ABEA.jpeg
