I saw heb's post about her eternity E-ring and wedding band set and fell in love! My E-ring is currently paved from 7pm to 5pm clockwise, but I really want to full eternity because the look is gorgeous. Planned on asking heb about her ring's durability since she's had them from 2006, but her post is locked and she hasn't posted comments on pricescope since mid 2012. So what do you guys think? Anyone else out there own eternity E-ring want to share their experience? I'm asking Mark from ERD to make the prongs from 5pm to 7 pm clockwise thicker to prevent the stones from falling out. ;)

The set you are showing is a gorgeous set, no question, but I think with full eternity in a thinner band, "risk" comes along for the ride ;))

I like the idea of the "party in front/ business in the back" (like a mullet!!) of having the diamonds where they can be seen and between your fingers, but the solid metal in your palm where it is most likely to be in contact with everything you handle during the day. I do not own a full eternity band and I'm like you - drawn to them like a moth to a flame!! - but I do worry about the potential damage to the diamonds and how well they would hold up with normal use. I think you'd have to be very cautious in what situations you'd be wearing the rings in. If you are okay with being gentle and having to take them off at certain times, then go for it.

But bottom line - get what you love! As other's have said on other threads in the past --- that's what insurance is for!

Another vote for getting what you love. I have a full eternity (shared prong) ER setting and WB and wore it every day for 9 years until I changed my original ER diamond. I never had any problems with the rings all the years I was wearing them. And I am not particularly gentle with my hands (I am a klutz!) but I always take my rings off when I get home and never exercise with them or sleep with them etc. So that might have helped. Anyway, I think you should get what you want because that is the only way you will be fully happy and satiated with what you have (in my opinion anyway). No reason it wouldn't be OK if they are made well and you don't do anything heavy duty with them on. And worse case if you lose a stone or 2 it is not that difficult to repair.

I have a "matching" band that I actually bought off the pre-loved forum. it is .1mm off in terms of thickness but I really dont' think you can notice. Only problem is my band is WG and my ering is PLAT. I think with ANY HW inspired halo you have to wear a matching wedding band. Anything else looks off.

EDIT: I'm of the mindset that I dont' want to baby my jewelry. I want to wear it so I do everything with my rings on. If and when something happens to my set then I will have it fixed.

I think the ering is too expensive to have to replace if it gets too small, so I would have diamonds on the shank from 5 to 7 o'clock. The eternity wedding band I would do as long as you don't mind replacing it sometime in th e future.

I'm sincerely surprised by all you ladies supportive responses. I thought that I'll get an onslaught of hate towards the full eternity E-ring idea. :))

 I love that! Originally, our E-ring design was full eternity but I had Mark from ERD alter the bottom shank from 5pm->7pm to solid platinum for durability's sake. Now that our ring is being remade due to prong issues, I can't resist the idea of "go BIG or go HOME" and get what I've always wanted. Since we're spending all this money for a personalized ring, I figured why not go FULLY customized? ::)

This is what I was hoping to hear! If I can wear it for 5 years without losing a stone, I'll consider that as a success. :sun: I'm going to go look at your set now!

When I asked my SO what he thought of the non-resizing issue, he said that we already went 1/2 a size larger then my finger size so it should be OK for awhile. I said, "Honey, what if later on I get prego and gain weight?" His response, "The ring will keep you from getting too fat then. 8-) " Me, "What you say?!!! :angryfire: " Him, "All the baby weight is not going to deposit on your finger woman. As long as you don't get TOO fat, you won't have a problem. :sun: " I swear to god, this is what you get when you marry your best friend of 14 years. Half of the time he views me as a MAN and no a WOman. :nono:

Yeah, the fact it can't be re-sized is a consideration, but I dunno...on the other hand we all put weight on differently and there's no sure way to know if your ring size will be affected. Seems a shame to not get something you love because of something that *might* happen. (hope that made sense lol). My weight has gone up and down over the years and my ring size didn't change, but I tend to not put weight on with regard to my upper body - it unfortunately makes a beeline to my hips and thighs. ;( That said though, I've read here on PS where women's ring sizes got bigger after having kids - so yeah, it's a bit of a gamble.

I don't know, life is short...maybe you should just get what you want and deal with whatever happens when it happens. My dh, who plans out every single detail of his life, would be horrified by my advice! :D

Why did you not warn that it was a 2.93ct blazing rock of fire? Geez, it's like looking into the sun, I could have gone blind! :sun: Must put on sunglasses to view your set!

I thought so too, but Mark just got back to me 15 mins ago. "If there are any sizing issues in the future I have to remove the diamonds and then reset them." So apparently, I CAN resize. Who knew? I think most jewelers do complimentary resizing. But in my case with the full eternity band, I'll have to pay the resetting fee. I don't mind that. I'm just happy that there's an option to resize! Mark is more worried at the integral strength of the setting though. "I don't think it's a good idea to place the diamonds all the way around...It also will cause structural issues on the ring. I never place diamonds all around for these reasons." I'm asking Mark what's to be done to strengthen the ring. Probably a thicker from a 2mm to a 2.5mm shank?

Party in the front comfort in the back mine is 15 years old. But totally honest. I have replaced five or six stones and....i went from platinum to 18K WG as I wear it everyday and the platinum was so soft it broke on half on April fools day 3 years ago.

So last summer I reset it in 18K WG and lost a stone the day i picked it up. i have the prongs checked monthly and the stones still get looose :errrr:

I really appreciate it when people post pictures so thanks for doing that! :appl: Your ring looks beautifully intricate. I'm not surprised that it's so high maintenance. I've had my 14kt 5 stone promise ring for about 3-4 years now and I've had the prongs worked on twice so for 15 years, losing 5-6 stones sounds about right. Did you use Pt950/Ir? I heard that this is softer than 18kt gold. I'm using Pt950/Ru, which is slight harder than 18kt. I hope this will prevent some loosing of the prongs. :?

I work in a conservative setting so wearing 2 rings is already pushing it. I didn't want to wear a spacer as well so I had Mark not pave only the center part of my donut on the one side that's touching my matching pave wedding band. Problem solved! Now the shanks can rub together without much damage.
img_5166.jpg

This set is going to be very delicate so I'm thinking to going from my 2mm shank width to 2.2mm-2.5mm to increase it's structural integrity. Mark isn't overbearing and pushes his "vision" upon you, but he'll tell you quite frankly if an idea isn't structurally sound. :)) He said NO GO to my 2mm shank with full eternity. Just waiting for his advice whether a thicker band will be a GO!

Yeah, I think that I would listen to Mark in this case. I would hate for you to constantly be without your rings because they have structural issues. As far as being able to size an eternity band, I think it's cool that it's an option for you, but did you inquire about the expense of doing so? I think that I remember hearing that it's almost as expensive to resize the band as it is to purchase a new one. (?) I had thought to recommend a tiny spacer bar as well, but then remembered reading that because of the nature of pave, sizing it can cause the stones to become unseated and melee to fall out, thus maybe why Mark suggested the necessity to re set the entire ring?

And as far as weight gain..my ering is half a size larger as well, but I can tell you that in hot weather and with a good bloat the ring tightens up. I've forgotten to take it off before bed and when I remove it in the morning I can feel how much more snug the fit is. So as far as fit, sometimes it's not just fluctuating weight that you need to worry about, and there is a fair amount of water retention that comes along with being pregnant, I only gained 16 lbs so it was mostly baby but my finger grew a whole size...and we won't talk feet! ;) I guess I would err on the side of caution, and listen to what Mark has to say. Or perhaps a whole size larger and wear sizing beads that can be removed in the future?

Thanks for the suggestions Christina, you're always so helpful. I think Mark must really dislike this full eternity idea since he hasn't gotten back to me. We'll see, if it can be done with structural integrity great! But if it can't, I wouldn't push it. ::)
