let me start out by saying, that this was the one thing i wasn''t all that crazy about. i know most girls DREAM of what their wedding dresses will look like, and its a huge deal to them, but for me...i was the girl who was like "eh...i''ll figure it out as it gets closer to the date"
(i did have most of my music picked out long before i ever got engaged, though...that was my thing
)
i''m not a girly-girl, and i HATE shopping, so dress shopping was the one thing i was secretly dreading. in my fantasy mind, i was going to find something that fit perfectly off the sale rack a few months before the wedding and that would be that.
well, my friend is getting married a few months before me and she was bugging me to go try on dresses with her. i finally said yes, knowing that she needed to get hers ordered pretty soon. (both of our families are on the east coast, so we didnt have our moms / bridesmaids to go dress shopping with)
we went to alfred angelo, since we both found dresses online that we liked from there. when we got there, the lady said it would just be a few minutes and i remember mumbling "take your time!" which got laughs from all. my friend knew this just wasnt my "thing"
well, fast forward to me trying on a few dresses. i liked some, but wasnt "wow''d" by any. everyone said i would just KNOW if it was the right one.
when i tried on #1952...
me, who wasnt into this dress trying on stuff at all, started CRYING! then my friend started crying...and the lady helping even teared up! it was the one.
i pranced around alfred angelo for over an hour in that dress....i didnt want to take it off. never in a million years would i picture myself acting like that!
the weirdest thing was that just as i was ready to take it off, a girl walked out of the dressing room next to me wearing the SAME DRESS! in the SAME SIZE! (hers had just arrived from being ordered) it was like fate to see another girl who was the same size as me in that dress. seeing it on her closed the deal completely.
i left that place feeling like it was all a dream (so did my friend, since she found her dress, too)
i never thought it could be that exciting to find the right dress! now, hopefully i can get that excited about makeup and stuff, too
here are some pics...hopefully they post
