I like the x-prong setting but that puts me out of my price range. Does anyone have any suggestions on a x-prong like setting? or suggestions on other settings that would make that diamond look good?

what''s your budget for the setting?

There are always less costly copies of branded settings, but many of these imitations are less well made or less well finished. A major concern with a princess cut is damage during the setting process resulting in a chipped or broken pointed end. Having the seller of the diamond supply the mounting and set the diamond relieves you of the risk. Going to some other source will put the risk primarily on you. A broken diamond might be mean a tiny repair or a major problem. It can happen either way. Then the apparaent bargain mounting suddenly looks like not such a fine deal.

Use white gold instead of platinum if that is a possible alternative. Palladium is also less costly if they make it, too. If you are really in a budget squeeze, just go for a standard setting for the time being. Later on, when money is looser and a special day like a birthday or anniversary looms, go for the upgrade.

I want to get both the setting and the diamond from the whiteflash.com if I can

I''d check into seeing how much it costs in WG? that might still put you over budget just a bit, but I think it''d be worth it so you don''t have to change the setting again down the road. I don''t know if WF does palladium or not, but it wouldn''t hurt to ask. like dave says, that will cut costs as well.

I am trying to get it in white gold. I might ask about palladium and then upgrade to platinum later on

would that one above look better or this one look better

any opinions would greatly be appreciated I want to make the purchase soon

thanks

personally, I like this one. I think it''s great you are putting most of your budget into the stone. I would suggest getting a nice setting like the one above and then possibly saving up over the next year or so and upgrade the setting to x-prong or something else she might like at that time

mrssalvo which one are you talking about? the one that is pictured or the linked one?

I think she is talking about the linked setting... that''s the one I like too! Classic and lovely and fitting for the stone!

yes, sorry...the classic one you linked us too.

That''s what I thought too. So if I can get ahold of my sales rep from whiteflash I should be able to place the order soon. I just can get any responses from her.

just finalized the order and faxed everything over. Now the wait begins for the diamond to arrive.

Thanks to Traci at whiteflash.com for all the patience and time it took me to decide.
