Found a very interesting stone. Could it turn out to be a really good stone?

Hey guys as some of ya'll know I am in the process of trying to find the perfect stone. I have originally been looking for something in the F VS1 56 table, 61 depth, 34.5 crown, and 40.8 pavillion range, but I have not been able to find anything through Tiffany's. I did end up finding a 1.06 G VS2 that falls into that range and more than likely I am going to purchase that ring, but Tiffanys did end up finding this stone that has caught my interest.

Now I understand that the numbers are not perfect, but it does very well on the HCA advisor and has a really nice spread for the carat weight. It is also an F VVS2 and is $900 cheaper than the G VS2 with approx the same dimensions.

Let me know what ya'll think. I think this might actually be a great stone, but please tell me like it is if this stone is worthless.

You are basically looking at what''s called a 60/60 stone. If you do a search on here for that, it should give you enough to get an idea of how they look/perform.

Some people really like the look.

I''m not an expert, but I''d be more comfortable with the G/VS2.

...or it could be a great value. One thing...it could be nice to check the critical pavilion measurement, as your numbers are expressed as a % vs angle...and angles, it's said, have the pattern of being less likely to be presenting rounded data...not sure what difference this would make.

But...to have a Tiffany, and with some more extraordinary characteristics...not too shabby. Being able to see & compare will be your best bet. I would include this latter one in your mix.

The point about 60/60...I am perhaps a literalist...but my only take away is not that it is bad...but rather...that it tends to misunderstood as good, without more info in hand, and that it could be anything, without crown & pavilion angles. But...these you have, and so you CAN evaluate your diamond. In your case, the info is favorable. I don't think there's a negative generalization about 60/60 to be made, but I could be wrong.

In the days before Pricescope, my jeweler selected my 1.50 ct F VS2 from dozens (he actually had the diamond guy bring in a couple of boxes of stones to go through) and it has proportions very similar to the one you are looking at (a 60/60). It is considered to be well-cut, not ideal cut, but it is a gorgeous stone. Classic. The ideal cut he showed me at the time went all dark under a direct spotlight and shot this laser-like red beam into my eye. It wasn''t the look I wanted, and I liked this one much more.

I think you are doing great, coming up with candidates to bring in and look at. Now, it is time to take a look see. You cannot tell what you are going to prefer from the numbers.

You might want to look at stones with larger tables to see if you like the look. I personally like stones with a table between 54 and 57, but some people prefer a brighter diamond with less fire.

Also, VVS2 is clarity overkill...
