Wooooo

I decided to let the other marquise go. The bowtie worried me some, plus the size difference made me worry I would have regrets. I came upon this stone at White Flash and am hoping to see the GIA report soon. I also ask Lesley to let me know if the stone shows to warm. How do the numbers look???

Thanks, Ronda

The 42% depth percentage worries me.
At first I thought it was as typo, but the 2.71 / 6.49 confirms it.
Hopefully both are typos?

Ronda, FYI, that picture is not a picture of your marquise in the link - it''s a sample photo. I know WF is busy, but I don''t think sample pictures help at all...to me, you might as well not even have a picture there. They''re not the only ones who do this - and I''m not getting on a soapbox, but only a picture of the actual stone would do me any good! Hopefully they are getting those for you.

Ditto. Post the pic once they send you one.

What depth should I be aiming for??

Firegoddess and kaleigh:

Hi there!! We cannot provide actual pictures of a diamond that is not in house. If Woobug decides to have us bring it in we will provide her with a diamond pic., a SARIN and an idealscope image.

I''m not a marquis expert but that seems like an awfully shallow depth...

Can WF do a bit of searching around within your parameters and bring back 2-3 virtual options for you to decide between? Is that what is happening now or did you find this stone?

Another random Q but if you are going to have Wink recut your eventual stone, why don''t you just have him source you one? Seems like that''d be easiest because then he could also look for a good candidate for a recut.

This is an interesting point. For my own curiosity, do most internet vendors only mainly stock rounds and princesses, or do some stock a few fancies of each shape as well?? As a fancy shape owner (and I hope to acquire more in the future which is why I''d like to know

) I''m interested, as it does involve some cost to ''bring a stone in'' if I end up not liking it.

wooo Mara, I am going to have him recut my current stone. It is a 11.5 X 5.75 H/I I2 (all inclusions are at one end). Wink is going to look at recutting it to a pear for a right hand ring on pendant. They only have to take out a small amount to remove the flaws that DRIVE ME CRAZY :) I have a 2.06 ct J/VSI on hold a jewler but it doesn''t face up much larer than the 1.34ct that White flash is carrying. The J color can be tricky so I am waiting to see if the one whilte flash has is really warm colored. The one at the jewlers has High Flor. so it faces up fairly white.... WOOO

Oh I thought from previous posts that you were finding a new stone to have him recut, that makes sense now I guess!!

While marquises can not be judged by numbers alone, this diamond is waaay too shallow. Ideally, depth should be around 59-63%. Beautiful marquise can be found that are shallower or deeper, but that is too extreme. The table is also a little big, IMO. I would keep looking. Try using this:

I am sure I have confused you...... I have been looking at several different ways to work with my current stone. Trade in on the stone isn''t great and I bought it right when I first found Pricescope and all of you awesome experts :) Now that I know what I am looking for, the inclusions in my 1.75 marquise drives me nuts. My local jewler has offered to take in my current stone on trade but for what he is giving me I might as well keep it and have a beautiful newly cut pear. Wink said it is common to do this to marquise stones that have a broken tip. I love the fancy shapes. Alll of that said, I am trying to find a nice marquise for my wedding set. I don''t want to spend over $4500.00 because I plan on will upgrading it on my 25th Anniversary (2009) but I want it to look nice in my current new setting for now.. I love love love the marquise look but their shapes run all over the place. I am looking for one that faces up similar to mine but eye clean.

Thank you Jazmine. I haven''t been looking at the depth # ................

I was only looking closely at the length to width. Thank you for your help in that area

Woo Jazmine, that one looks really nice. Tell me about your marquise :) I would love to see a picture. Lately, Marquise buyers are rare :)

Woo,

Here is a LINK to my "Fat" 1.47 F-VS1 Marquise RHR. I bought it a long time ago before I knew any better.

Jazmine, yours looks like a real beauty.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WOOOOOOOOO White Flash is going to bring the stone in for review. Lesley said the manufacturer said it was nice but we wont know until they receive it. I know the depth is a big question so I will post the reports. WOOO
