My search for the right diamond continues...

I've been looking at a number of GIA-certificated stones on Whiteflash and am trying to determine which among them merit a closer look. Since they have only a GIA certificate, I don't have alot to work from in judging cut. I'd like to request a Sarin report, but am wondering if any can be eliminated on the basis of information available on Whiteflash alone?

These are the stones:

Diamond 1

Diamond 2

Diamond 3

Diamond 4

Also, here's an AGS-certificated stone I've been eyeing:

AGS Diamond

Input from the experts would be greatly appreciated.

Gosh,.... Those are toughies!! All look like good candidates. Call WF and chat with them. Bob, or Lesley, or Denise, or Judi may see something in info they have available to steer you in one direction or another.

FYI, diamonds 1 and 2 are the same stone. I like the #1/2 stone as long as it is eye clean, or the #5 stone as long as it is eye clean and the fluorescence does not make it appear milky in sunlight (if it doesn't it will actually make the stone look more like an H). I'm no expert, though, but maybe some others will chime in with their opinion.

I fixed the links so that numbers 1 and 2 are two different stones, as I'd originally intended.

Thanks for the input, BTW. It's much appreciated.

Yes, but now stones #2 and #3 are the same.

I'd agree - the first and the last stone would be my picks to further investigate.

I personally don't care for the range of mm on the 2/3 stone - 8.17 x 8.30.....too much variance for my liking.

Argh! Okay, this time it's truly fixed. 5 stones total; 4 GIA certified, 1 AGS certifed. My apologies for the confusion.

So it sounds like the consensus is the 1st and 4th GIA certified stones?

The 4th GIA stone, having strong fluorescence, could be a mixed bag. I'd feel more comfortable about it if it were medium as opposed to strong...

What happened to the I color stone w/fluorescence? Now #4 is a different stone. When I looked up posts about fluorescence, even very strong, the experts seemed to say it is rare to see the negative milky effect. You may want to at least ask WF about it. Then again, if it worries you, I still think #1 looks pretty good. Post the angles when you get them.

The SI1, I-color 2.01 ct. stone is here:

Fluorescent Stone

I'd actually mistakenly posted it before, intending to post the 2.01 I-color 2.01 ct. stone that is posted above as diamond # 4. The price for both was exactly the same -- that's what caused the confusion.
