Hello lovely Brides!

Ok, ok, so I''m NOT engaged yet, but it''s coming really, really soon! (within the next couple of weeks)

Anyway, we are planning a Winter 2009 wedding, and I definitely want to do as much printing at home as possible (programs, name cards, maybe invites, STDs). I typically do the day-after-thanksgiving shopping, and thought I might take advantage of the sales to get a really nice printer!

Do you have any suggestions for what prints really nicely and high-quality at home? Ink-jet? Laserjet? I have no idea about such things...

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide!

I can''t help you out with your question, but I just wanted to tell you that initially I wanted to print my cards etc at home as well. But then I went to a print shop out of curiosity and they quoted me less than 20$ to print ALL my save-the-dates (on the paper I would be giving them). I decided to outsource all the printing because it was a) less effort b) might even be cheaper, considering I have to worry about what kind of ink to use on the cards and if the paper would work on that printer etc etc and c) well, LESS EFFORT! Just thought I''d share another idea! :)

Laser jet is the way to go because ink jet can smudge easily. But I agree with Kama. By the time you buy a decent quality color laser printer and everything to go with it it might just be cheaper to have them printed for you.

Ink jet works fine if you are careful with the items as they come off the printer. That''s when they''re most likely to smudge. Also be sure to purchase paper that is specifically okay for use in ink-jet printers. Usually the invites, etc. will tell you if the paper will work in ink-jet printers. This limits you quite a bit in terms of what papers you can use, but there are still quite a few options available out there. I did my save the dates on an ink-jet printer and they came out fine. I''m intending to do my wedding invites on ink jet also.

Oops, forgot to say thanks, ladies!

Kama - I can''t believe printing is that cheap! I will totally explore a local printing option for sure! Thank you!

Neatfreak - good point, after all the accessories, ink, etc. local printing may just be the best option.

Marchswallowbird - Thanks for the input, something to keep in mind as I do my shopping.

Thanks for your help! can''t wait to "officially" join you all in BWW - I lurk all the time, you guys have such great ideas!
