Absolutely divine.
On a depressing note, here where I live $725k gets you an old 2 bed 1 bath apartment on a main road.

If it makes you feel better, where I live, $750k gets you a second hand public housing… which means a leasehold flat with less than 94 years

The house is beautiful. If only…

I absolutely adore that house! In particular I like that a lot of the rooms have high ceilings, which is not always the case in some of his properties.

A very good friend of mine bought a FLW house here in Illinois a few years ago. It is spectacular. I'd post a link but don't want to compromise their privacy, but trust me, it's wonderful!

Illinois/Chicago is a funny place in terms of prices. Downton $750K can get you a one bedroom in a nice building. In some of the far flung areas $750K would virtually buy you an entire town!

This is breathtakingly beautiful, @kenny . Thanks so much for posting.

Geez, it's beautiful! I've been to Fallingwater and there are so many similarities!
But I wonder why it's so reasonably priced?
Maybe it needs a new roof or other expensive updates.

To share a little more light on this listing, I saw this beautiful home the first day it was posted in the local realty company. It is a beautiful home, Kenny, and when I saw it listed I hoped that the new owner would lovingly restore it to it's full potential.

It is the former home of Karen Johnson Boyd, the great-granddaughter of Samuel Curtis Johnson, the founder of S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc. of Racine, WI. and whose products are well known.

Mrs. Boyd grew up in Wingspread, the home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for her family in 1937. She loved that house so much that she commissioned her own Wright home, the Keland House, in 1954. That was the home in which she died in 2016 at the age of 91.

Her first husband, Willard H. Keland, Jr., predeceased her and she remarried to Dr. William B. Boyd. She and Dr. Boyd were married for almost 34 years when she died, and he passed away in December of 2020 at the age of 97. Her three remaining children have apparently, decided to sell the property now.

We, about 15 years ago, lived 2-3 miles away from this home... as the crow flies. Let's hope the right people find this home and it is restored, perhaps I should say, refurbished to it's original beauty. Thank you for sharing this is your post.

It may just be the location. Some areas have much lower prices than others. While visiting family in South Dakota last summer, everyone was horrified that the one "kid" in the family bought a huge house for $250,000 when it is just him and his wife since there were so many others at half that price. I didn't tell them that the house we had just bought was several times higher than that. (Despite not buying anywhere near the expensive end of things!)

The location of this home is between Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL so you will not see east or west coast prices for homes in this area. Also, keep in mind, that restoration and updates will probably easily add $300,000. or more to the price tag. It's a great buy for the right people.

HI:

Absolutely my style. Stunning. Looks original and agree would need a substantial amount of work. But great bones for sure.

cheers--Sharon

I've heard the years have not been kind to many FLW houses.
Perhaps mostly the fault of some owners not being willing, or able, or having the knowledge or contractors needed to give them the upkeep these architectural treasures need.

I'd only buy it if I could afford to restore it to original everything.
I'd even attempt doing that with kitchen and bathrooms.
I'm totally into not giving a sh!t about updating my home to current and passing "styles". :knockout:
I know some renovate/update their kitchens practically annually, as they get bored or keep up with the Jones'.
I'd also try to find vintage everything to go into the kitchen.

No TVs in the house but I'd reserve one room for our computers.

I'd stay gay though. which might not go over well with the local community. :(sad

you would get an awsome house here in Wanagnui - although not as big as the one Kenny showed us ( its why we moved here but on a much smaller budget)
but in wellington all you would get would be a fixer-upper of a damp dank dark depressing hovel on a windswept section of rocks and clay possibly up 100 steps with no onsite parking

I remember several FLW from walking around one of the near west ‘burbs off Ogden Ave. There are a few in my current city as well—good stuff!

I love the design and the clean lines, however, way too much brown and beige for my taste, sorry!

DK :))

I absolutely love Wisconsin, I would retire there. A FLR would be amazing! I’ve been to House on the Rock twice and it’s a fun goofy place to go. Good price for the size!
