For a not-quite 6mm Round, what size pears would you put next to it?

Im just a hair over 6mm, so I base it on 6mm...

I love the look of Kaleighs ring, and we dance around sidestones frequently. I was curious how big of a pear would be nice on the side of a .86 without distracting from the center stone?

How long is a .2?

My .38ct is 7.5mm long. It would also depend on the L:W and depth.

Thanks ame!!!! I don''t know how long .20 would be exactly, but think that size would be great next to your beautiful stone. That way they would highlight your stone and not take away from it. For reference my center is 2.36 and the sides are .34 each. for a tw of .68. You could even go with .15 sides??? I''m sure others can help out more as far as measurements go.

Hmmm..do you think 3.5-4 mm would be too much on either side of a 6mm stone? Those .15 sound like a good idea.

I have some serious buttkissing to do around here to get this for christmas....

Where could I see a setting to hold such a creation?

Think I could do this in a new setting for under like, 1500?

How about emailing Whiteflash for a quote and also seeing what they suggest as an ideal size ratio for the pears??

Seriously? Mine is 0.94ct and it''s 7.88mm long by 5.75mm wide. My W:L ratio is fat at 1:1.37. It''s shallowish at 58%.

Well, this is quick-measuring-stone-in-setting-with-plastic-ruler, but mine is approx 7.5mm by 4m wide, so that''s 1:1.85, don''t know the depth. Actually don''t know the exact cts either; sold as 3/8ct, uncerted.

Got an Idea. Only if it can be made to fit you and the stone ...

The ring shold look like this I would think.

The second link didn''t show up but that''s too much detail going on there. I want plain platinum.

I know this isn''t usually a "standard" mounting blank from Stuller, that or I couldn''t dig it up in the online catalog...

Thanks!

A lot depends on the ratio. I bought a set of pears to mount in a ring someday but for right now they are earrings. .30 each. They are fat pears with a ratio of 1 to 1.38. I wanted them a little squatty since I have small fingers and didnt want things too wide across my finger. Somewhere on here is a thread where I placed them next to a red spinel that was 7mm across. Most people thought that they were too big for the center stone. So I think .15 to .20 would look nice and not overpower your center stone at 6mm.

Any idea where it was made?

Thanks!

Laney,
that's a great link, here's the picks - sides are .25 and .26 center is .82- I think if you went a touch smaller with the pairs it would really accent you center stone beautifully.

ETA- Ame we were posting at the same time but thinking the same thing

Go to adiamond is forever.com
and set out to design your own ring. There is a diamond proportion chart that pops up and you can put most center and side shapes in and play with the sizes. Use teardrop for pear.

IMHO I like .20 or 20% the size of the center stone for each individual stone.

So for a full one carat I like .20 sides. Your center is smaller so you may go smaller.

That''s the one MrsS...id go .2 or so probably.

Well I haven''t gotten a response with a price idea yet. If this ends up being cost-prohibitive we will probably do an upgrade on my solitaire for now. We have a set budget to do this in and we know what we can get if we go with just an upgrade on the center stone and do that in a couple years or something.

We can go to a 1.15-1.25 size star129 center if this falls through.

That said it might be months off either way....

Thanks!
