Flynt offers $10M rewars for Trump's removal

But the 'amazing dealmaker/businessman' label was a sham. The bankruptcies, the continuous stiffing of contractors who worked for him in good faith. Just like his campaigning on 'draining the swamp' and then filling it with the same people he criticized Hillary for 'palling around with.'

None of that matters because the hate for her and the "eff" you to people who wanted to fundamentally transform America is very strong.

America is being transformed alright! Not in a good way.

How nice of President Ahole to finally acknowledge the four servicemen who were killed 2 weeks ago. Someone on CNN said that Trump has the empathy of a cockroach.

He won't be happy until he has killed millions in a nuclear war.

Right. But it wasn't just about Hillary, just as it wasn't just (or even mostly) about economic anxiety. (The three words chanted at his rallies weren't "CREATE MORE JOBS," if memory serves.) What existed before, of course, but has become inflamed under Trump is the 'us vs. them' mentality. After Hillary lost, the enemy became the media. And with the Weinstein allegations, Hillary has again become a target with the media taking a brief backseat. What Trump promised but isn't doing for his base isn't registering or is being ignored because the TEAM mentality is what prevails. Tribalism. You'll see this behavior a lot in cults, too. Everyone else is out to destroy us. Leader is the only one who holds the truth.

His base is long gone, and I think it'd be a waste trying to court them back at the risk of alienating the more moderate liberals and independents. (Speaking to what whitewave was saying.)

Our tolerance for insanity has skyrocketed in such a short period of time. It is truly alarming. Any one thing that Trump says or does daily would have resulted in a republican meltdown each and every time had Obama said or done the same, and yet legitimately crazy things are buried by even crazier things. Like Trump making a joke yesterday (?) about Pence's making people pray each time they speak to him, or wanting all gay people hanged. A joke, of course, but can. you. imagine. if Obama had made that joke about Biden but substituted something like "gun nuts accidentally shooting themselves in the head"? Flames, flames, flames.

I would say business is up, spending is up, and if you have a 401k, it is soaring. More people are employed. It doesn't matter if this happened as a result of Obama.... the president in office always takes the credit.

People vote their pocketbooks is a saying. As long as people are doing better today than they were last year, his base is still there supporting him. His base is NOT long gone, and I'm not sure where you got that from.

I think even his approval rating is up. ETA: it is back in the 30 percents... but was recently in the 40 percents.. (and I mean up from way down lol)

I will agree with this except his base is still there. But the insane rhetoric from the left will be a problem for them if they do not try to come to the center or tone it down. Which is what @whitewave was also saying. It won't be what Trump says that will be the liberal's problem, it will be what their mouthpieces say that will come back to bite them. People like me are watching what Trump does and does not do, because what he says is often nonsense. Conservatives would always rather politicians don't do anything because whatever they do end up doing costs taxpayers in the end. But moderate people are also watching the insanity of the far left.

Yeah, but we're 9 months in. Let's see where we are in year 3, if he's still around. He doesn't- and perhaps can't- take responsibility for anything bad that happens on his watch, and his base looks to him for 'the truth.' But at some point, he'll have no one else to point to. Blaming the Dems for obstruction despite being the minority, Hillary, the media...how long can nothing matter? Whoever has their heels dug in now will likely be firmly planted there in the future no matter what.

How long did Obama blame Bush again? They all blame their predecessor and eventually they cannot blame anyone else this is true.

They don't care about that. They care about if they are doing better this month than last month. Right now, they are.

You are right. How they are doing remains to be seen in year three.

This proves to them they made the right choice in choosing a businessman for the job. They expect that a businessman won't be good at politics.

You make good points, but what I'm trying to say is that they're eating up what Trump is- but shouldn't be- taking credit for (and that PBS article says as much, I'll read the other two when I have a chance). What has Trump himself done to improve the economy? Nothing yet on tax reform, or infrastructure spending, or changes to the healthcare system. And the stock market is up, but it responds to expectations, and Trump's promise-keeping track record isn't so great. The number of jobs added per month under Trump vs. the last 6 months of Obama's second term is actually down slightly.

The point is that people will believe what they want, reality be damned. That's the base. Anyone able to be swayed should be seeing through the bullshit by now. Hopefully.

As I said, I'll be thrilled to be wrong.

98% of my facebook (not scientific!!!) are Trump supporters and they are as vocal as ever about their LOVE and support for him.

I'm laying out my predictions again here:

1) he won't be impeached
2) he will run for reelection
3) he will win reelection

I will be thrilled to be wrong.
Trump will be re-elected if we see a 3% growth in our economy.

Our 401k making more money won't mean a damn thing if this jerk gets us into a nuclear war.

So very true, and I have older teens too so I get so anxious about a draft... would send them out of the country before sending them to the Korean Peninsula...

That would be terrifying, @whitewave. Mine are younger but I'd feel the same way.

Both of mine would definitely be going even if there is not a draft, and they have both been there already. It is a scary thought but I am not fretting at the moment yet.

Let me know if/when you start fretting.

:wavey:Hi Whitewave!

My Facebook is the complete opposite. Link after link to negative press about him. Maybe it is who you are friends with.;)) I dropped all the really off the wall friends a long time ago. The supporters that remain have been much quieter and usually post more about issues than in support of 45.

Did you see the latest gallup poll, it has his disapproval rate over 60
http://news.gallup.com/poll/201617/gallup-daily-trump-job-approval.aspx

FiveThrityeight.com is a great sight that compiles and analyzes polls. His approval ratings are roughly averaging 30%+ below all recent presidents except for Clinton and Ford. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

And CNN has his rating dropping 20 points after his hurricane response.

Please thank your children for their service.

It's still a scary thought and he is so reckless in his comments and actions.

@redwood66 We picked up this little green army man at an antique show a few weeks ago. A nice vendor had a fish bowl full of them and gave them out to remind us to pray for our soldiers. I put him in a place of honor on my mantel.20171016_212626-1.jpg Prayers for your kiddos.

No, that has nothing to do with it. They liked his populist "f you" persona, his reputation for compromises and deals and for what he might do for the business environment, especially small business... and they hated Hillary.

If you all keep ignoring the legitimate reasons people voted for him, you are going to be depressed until 2024

Maybe it is even more simple? "It is economy, stupid"? These are people who do not want to share anything with the immigrants, the poor, the disenfranchised, own folks on the street, who do believe they have extra privileges? Who do not notice how fast the world is changing, or maybe they do, but it makes them angry? And so far, Trump has not acted against his electorate - yet.

May I ask what leads you to form this view?

My understanding was that the UK joined the Common Market (or whatever it's called) for economic/trading reasons, not so we can all skip happily through fields of gently swaying corn holding hands. lol

There seems to be an assumption that the entire pro-brexit vote was based on xenophobia, whereas a good portion will simply have been fed up of being dictated to by the giant, faceless, unaccountable machine that is the EU nowadays!

The unification of European in all its social and legal forms is primarily a protection from future conflicts. We are not only talking of WW I&II but millennia of the most awful fighting on the backs of small people.

What if the 3% growth is due to him starting a war with another country (aka military spending).
The joke is the last refuge for a politician down in the polls is to start a fight or war with another country, because "patriotism".

McCain seems to be warning of these themes today...

Yes, I looked at 538 when I said he was back in the 30s for approval...

I got rid of the right wing kooks during the election. What remains are people you would be friends with if you didn't talk politics lol

I have to say, I am far from knowledgeable on these things, but I'm not personally convinced - there is still xenophobia in the many different countries within the EU, both inter- and intra-country, and I'm not sure that will ever go away entirely. The different cultures of each country are so different!

Thank you @partgypsy

Who would have ever thought that many American people still expect to have a president they can believe, one who has empathy and compassion, one who is not a white supremacist and includes all Americans and not just those who voted from him, one who works at bringing the country together, one who realizes that our future children deserve to live with clean air and water, and one who realizes what a nuclear war would do to the world. I guess this in the new definition of "insane rhetoric"
