Hello Everyone,

I found an GIA diamond in my price range, but I notice the Fluorescence mention Medium Blue. Is it noticeable against other diamond with no fluorescence? Is fluorescence bad?

When I compare it to other Diamonds, I don't notice it, but I am new to the Diamond world, so I don't know much.

Diamond has a nice sparkle

Measurement 6.07 x6.09x3.89

Depth 64.0%
Table 52%
Crown 36.0
Pavilion 40.0

Hi ph...

You already know that a 1 ct stone should have measurements around the 6.4/6.5 mark.

Medium blue usually has no issues and isn't noticeable in the sun. My bigger concern is that the diamond is very deep and faces up smaller than it should for a 1 carat stone, meaning that the cut isn't good.

Hello JulieN,

It's only a 0.90 ct =( @ the local Shaneco Store.

Still too small for a .9 ct, which should hit 6.1/6.2 mm.

40.0 pavilion angle usually can't support a 36 crown angle, which needs something like 40.4-40.6 pavilion.

Figure out what carat, color, clarity, and price you want and buy it online, you haven't found any diamond with decent cut locally for your price point.

Yikes!
What's the girdle on this thing?

i believe the girdle is 4.5%

That is a really bad stone...and not because of fluorescence! That is probably the best thing about it!

Are you telling us this stone is graded GIA excellent cut????

Here is something to write down and have on a card if you go back to the store:

GIA Excellent cut only

Table 54-58

Depth 60-62.3

crown angle 34-35.0

pavilion angle 40.6-41.0

These are safe numbers and will usually result in one of the better GIA Excellent stones.

the medium blue Fl. would be a bonus but that stone is way too deep at 64% for a MRB....keep looking. I would suggest you buy from a reputable vendor online....the PSr's that specialize in MRB will help you find the absolute best largest and nicest stone for your budget.

Take a look at the Brian Gavin Blues...the blue flo. tends to give a stone more personality especially in the sun it can make the stone look blue...hubba hubba!
this one is on reserve but really nice

James Allen will do ASET images on 3 stones, but this one is an IDEAL Hearts and Arrows as are the BGBlues:

this stone can never make it to an excellent cut grade by gia. depth and crown angles are too high. at best, it will be be graded as very good.

64% depth is wayyy to deeepp
